So I spent the last couple of hours experimenting. I tried both your three wick setup and the seven wick setup. I actually like the three wick a bit better. On the seven wick braid, I am occasionally getting too much wicking leading to flooding.

FYI, both attempts were with twisted 30g Kanthal A-1 5/4 wrap ohming out at 0.8 ohms. I'm running an AGA-T on top of a Natural.

Long story short, I'm with you pdib - this is the best vape I've had. I've currently got the seven wick setup going, and I am anxious to see how it performs once the wick is broken in a bit. I'm still not getting the vapor density that I see some of the folks getting in youtube vids, but its close. My first hybrid is supposed to arrive tomorrow, and I am definitely going to try this wick setup in it ASAP.

VaporTek. I got it in a combo with a Smok Natural... Figured I'd get my feet wet with a manual device while I'm waiting on the ELA.

Hey, I have the Natural. (my one mech) like it alot. Did the sanding down contacts thing and it does add kick (some). Before you do: know that the brass requires cleaning way more often (once a week vs almost never) and this requires full disassembly. also, the brass is more finicky, I'm often twisting my button or opening the bottom and twisting the pin to get fresh contact points. So, long/short, if its fine, leave it alone.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I don't think I'll be needing any wick holes bigger than 1/8-9/64 anymore. You know, having found wick Nirvana and all that. (Thank God I still haven't found my ideal setup for the IGO-L)

Sounds like it was worth a try, cghildreth. Very happy to hear that! What is flooding?

The coils were getting too wet to vape ideally. IME, too much juice on the coils leads to boiling juice, as opposed to vaporized juice. As the juice boils, you end up with lots of miniature hotspots on the coil - as one small portion boils and pops off the momentarily "un-juiced" portion creates a very small hotspot. You still get vapor, but much of the juice is not adequately vaporized, and the juice that does get vaporized tends to taste like it would if you had a hotspot. A wick that is wicking perfectly with the particular coil setup tends to throw off a lot of dense vapor without a whole lot of popping and boiling.

Keep in mind, this is just my :2c:. I'm relatively new to gennis and I'm simply telling you what I am guessing based on my limited experience. Other folks may have a better explanation, or be able to refute me entirely.

Oh... There could be a 19 wick coil in your future... ;)

Huh. that would be some seriously thin rolled mesh. Or an absolutely enormous wick. I had a bit of difficulty getting seven super thin wicks to fit in the 1/8" hole in my AGA.

jasl90 - I think you should volunteer to try. :)

Not sure how the rumor got started that the natural has current lose but I have fully tested and even in stock form they are terrific. Excellent little mods for sure.

Your wick looks interesting, are you cutting and rolling the little SS "tubes" yourself? Looks like that would be a pita.

The only time I get that kind of thing happening is when there is water involved. Say, if I rinse out my tank, rebuild, and even trace amounts of water are absorbed by the new wick. It always and only happens to me on a fresh build and goes away once the water is purged from the system. I was realizing, last night, how much of a difficult build this is. Not because of the "intricacy"of it so much as the level of tacit knowledge involved. My fingers know tensions and pressure points that my brain is oblivious to.

EDIT: Not to say that it would be hard to build it, but rather, perhaps, that it would be hard to say what all I did to make it work *right* and, therefore, what to troubleshoot.

LOL... "Experience", sure..."quite smart" not sure about that. :)

But I did do something like this back about six months ago in a Vivi Nova.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...vivi-nova-rebuild-tutorial-8.html#post7260661

It was a slightly different approach. So when I saw what you did with the twist and then put it in a genny, the light bulb went on.

But this one is all yours, you made it work...good job. Keep'em coming.
