Here's one side on the head. Barely noticeable, but its easier to take more away than to put it back. Nice thing with this set is I still have two in original condition!

Well happy belated birthday, and it seems you are doing just fine. I haven't really had the dry hit problem, but I tend to rotate devices and tilt them when I use them. Good luck and happy vaping.

Thanks, my birthday is actually the 21st, just got the gift early :) I really haven't had a dry hit but could tell it wasn't wicking as it should.

I am in bed on my iPhone with insomnia ATM and don't want to wake the hubs but I will check the label tomorrow just to be sure of what color they call it. but I know it is 100% cotton and I know it's in unbleached because its not stark white. I tried looking it up on the peaches and Creme website but didn't find the info I was looking for. It looks like natural cotton that hasn't been dyed so its looks like the color of duck cloth cancas if that reference means anything to you. It Vapes great and I never have liquids change color due to dyes on the cotton cause clearly, there aren't any. A friend of mine who owns the brick and mortar in town has been using it for ages and turned me onto it. I will give an update and hopefully a link as soon as I can look at the label later today.

I've tried re-wicking with silica, hemp, square braided candle wick, and cotton yarn. By far the cotton yarn performs the best. I believe it was 100% cotton sugar&cream #4 white yarn. I boiled mine twice to be safe. It has great flavor and vapor now, plus I save a ton not buying cartos!

Thanks for the feedback! The silica is way more expensive and seems like it doesn't work as well so far from info posted here.

i've wondering about the idea of silica wicks.
i don't like anything silicone headed into my lungs.
even as a transport device.
i wonder when someone will figure out a way to to use ss mesh as a wick in a nova.
i'm sure it could be done.
i think i need to get some yarn and wire and start making some myself.
gotta be cheaper than 6,7 or 8 bucks a pop for heads.

AFAIK, silica and silicone are two different materials.

just what is it exactly that causes the nova to loose flavor ?
that's what i haven't figured out yet.
it's a tank, coil, heating element, wick.
it's just a glorified clearomizer.
seems flavor should be as good as any clearo.

Seems to me to be a wicking issue. The slots I cut allow the juice to flow more easily and more to get to the center where it dries most/fastest.

I agree . It bums me too. Hence the desire to make the switch to rba's and rda's. I got the smoketek rda the other day and it had much better flavor even though its a wicking system. I wish there were a solution, rebuilding the coil and using the peaches and creme has improved the flavor but its still not the flavor you get from an atty. it's just something about the vivi nova. Shrugs* but the modification definitely helps and it produces a ton of vapor. And it definitely beats buying cartos. 100 ft of kanthal and a ball of coot on yard can be had for $10-12 max if you shop around and it will last for ages. The money you save on cartos can then be spent on mods and batteries mwahhahaa!!

Okay, an update here. Anyone about to try this, proceed with caution. After switching to the smaller wicks on the 2.4 head, I set it down after filling and it flooded the head. I might try just a slit in another cap for the 2.4 and 1.8 heads.

Edit: it still hits like a champ and an easy fix is to twist the cap slightly to decrease the flow.
