Good review and just a fyi, these use the same desai batts as the joyetech Twists...

Got a couple, one in black and one in chrome finish 16mm 1300 mAh "FATBOY", from gotvapes today just 6 days after ordering on the 10th. So excellent delivery times. Cost about £20.00 each with delivery including newsletter discount.

First impressions are:

1. The obvious shorter length than a 1000 mAh twist. Not all that much longer than a 650 mAh Twist for double the vape time. So a big plus.

From left to right-->1000 mAh joyetech Twist, 1300 mAh VV spinner, 650 mAh joyetech Twist.

2. Exactly the same diameter as a Vapingthings and VH genesis which is one of the reasons I bought it for. I think it's called the Griffin in the US.

3. Highly visible markings and the increment is by twisting in clockwise and not counter clockwise. Markings go up in 0.5 increments of 3.3, 3.8, 4.3 and 4.8 volts,

4. Not as well made as the Twist. The battery tube must be very thin. On the chrome finish one you can see a slight bulge where the top cap/pot has been press fitted into the tube.

5. Good short circuit protection in dead short situations where it flashes and switches off. Unlike the twist which also has SC protection but in a different way where the voltage just drops to zero but the button remains lit.

6. The button is slightly uncomfortable. They have used the standard 14mm ego connector and button is a touch uncomfortable as it is standard ego button and does not fall comfortably to the thumb.to press. They should have made the button a touch higher.May be a case of getting used to it.

Those are my first impressions. I am sure with the higher rated battery it will be able to supply the demand at the set voltage for a longer time unlike the twist where the voltage starts drooping after about 3-4 seconds. I am also hoping that once it dies, I should be able to put in a 14500/14650 battery in there, which was the idea behind why I bought it in the first place.

Overall a definite thumbsup for those who want a smaller form factor with half decent battery life and possibly try to fit a 14500/14650 battery into it in the future reusing the tube and circuitry and the pot.

I forgot to order the Type D ego cone to better finish it off but make sure you get one if you are going to use a 15/16mm dia -mizers like the mini nova or the Chinese genesis or the new 16mm Diameter DID from MM vapors ...

Thanks Danoman.

The tip of my thumb was getting sore pressing down on the button..I am sure this will occur to everybody, but I super glued a slice of a soft RIVA button to the top of the existing button and it's a good solution to this issue. (this is only for the fatboy 16mm 1300 mAh Spinner)

Now I can press the button comfortably.

The charging seems to be a two stage process. Depending on the charge state, when first inserted the battery light flashes a couple of times and stays lit for some time. It then flashes 8 times and goes out but the charger continues charging for another hour or so. Almost seems like a CC/CV charge which is the right way to charge Li-Ion cells. May be someone can confirm from the manufacturer if indeed this is the case.

I am not sure if they intended that but you seem to know your stuff on that. I do know that what you described is exactly how it does charge - you get an initial flash and the button stays lit for a bit but will finally go off. We had a few tickets over that, with customers thinking there was some sort of defect.

What exactly is a CC/CV charge cycle?

Thanks Danoman.

It's constant current charge upto about 4 volts and then constant voltage charge called a saturation charge till the battery reaches roughly 4.15-4.2 volts..

Charging Lithium-Ion Batteries

I have only had it since this morning but the way it is behaving on my charger is:

1.When the battery has run down when first inserted the button LED flashes quickly 3 times and then goes out for a few seconds and then comes back on and stays on.

2. Once it reaches a certain charge state, the button LED flashes rapidly 8 times (I think) and then goes out. But the charger continues charging. I can tell by the way my charger behaves. then after a certain period of time, on the 1300 it's about 45 minutes the charger LED turns a solid green.

This is what led me to believe that it is charging in a two stage process.

The charger I have is a USB 420 mA charger from Healthcabin which monitors the battery voltage and cuts off charging at 4.2 volts. More or less the same as what standard ego chargers do. But this battery behaves differently under charge and the circuitry within may be switching charging modes from CC to CV. I am not 100% sure but I just left both my batteries in till the charger LED went a solid green.

That's why asked if Vision can shed some light on why it is behaving this way.

Mine behaves the same way using a standard ego charger.

They are same price as 650mah, there is actually not wholesale price difference between those and between the 400 & 650 they are close to same price as even the larger ones.

Umm...do you mean the 400 & 650 are the same price (on the website)? The 400 says $26.95 & the 650 says 25.95. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you meant(?).

No... he said "wholesale price" which is the price they paid for them... if he meant the price on the website he would have said retail price.

Yes. I know what "wholesale" means. ; )
He was addressing why the 400mah is priced higher than the other (larger) sizes -which makes less sense now, given his answer(?).
Oh well... : /

It was stated by Bad earlier that the extra dollar was due to the 400's being specially made for GV. Hence the slight upcharge.

Hey any of you heavy vapors have one of the 650mah Spinners? I'm wondering how long it will last. I start back to work soon, and I don't want to take my Provari. I don't want to forget it there, or have it stolen. I want something smaller for work, but I also want it to the last the day. Of course at work I won't be able to chain vape, just go out every couple hours like I did when I smoked. if I should go bigger than the 650, I'll probably just get the 1300, since it is smaller than the 1000.

I've had a 650 in my cart for the last 3 days trying to figure out which I should get:p

If you're just taking "vape breaks" the 650 should do you fine. Nobody can really give a solid answer on how long it will last because that depends on what you set it to and your vaping style.

I have the 1300 and it does last me all day.

I just bought a 650mah as a backup, and for something to take to work...hopefully it'll last me since I won't chain vape there. Also got my friend started into vaping, he just ordered 2 1300mah Spinners, along with VN tanks, charger, and some juice :)

Sounds ike you got him off to a real good start.:toast:

My new 1300 mah spinner lasts me 6 hours. Heavy vaping for about an hour before work then moderate vaping till lunch and then about 30 minutes heavy vaping and it is done.

This seems pretty short for a 1300 battery. Is this normal? I hear people saying they get all day or 10 hours, etc.

Do I have a dud?
