My limited experience when I got my first SD on Tuesday. I made the mistake of not leaving it long enough after filling first time. So had some dry hits and not great taste. I definitely have to leave the wick to soak up juice for 10ish minuets on the next one. Really liking it on the Ego C I got as well tastes the same from first hit to needing charged instead of getting weaker with use.

I opened a new one and took a wiff at it;

The smell I got reminded me of T5 e-liquid,exact smell match!

So I think the SD come pre-primed with a drop or 2 of e-liquid tp prevent coil-popping.

Not sure if I should disclose this on a public forum.

If there was any e-liquid, you can be assured it would be no-nic.

I always rinse the new ones with distilled water, fluff the wicks a bit and dry burn to ensure it is clean and ready to go.

I was given my first one on Tuesday too. I wasn't sure about it at first (didn't clean it first) but it is growing on me. Because it is plastic though, I miss the weight of the EGO-T atomizer when I'm using it. Doesn't quite feel right.

I'm still a little unsure if I'm filling it correct. It has a piece of foam in it and the plastic is grey so I don't understand how people say they can easily see how much juice is in it. I can't see anything. How far are you supposed to fill it? Do you just ensure the foam piece inside is soaked?

And this is why I don't say much on here.......I never understand what people are talking about!!!!

This is what I was given:

EDC-eGo Dual Coil Clearomizer

When I asked him what is the Stardust everyone is going on about, Sean said this was the Stardust.......no wonder I get so confused and just stick to my EGO-T:confused:

I got 4 SD of the 2nd batch... they are okay in my opinion, both pros and cons.

I'm a low maintenance guy and so here are the pros:
-easy to fill
-easy to clean and dry burn
-cheap enough to chuck if you get a bad one

I'm also a little OCD so here are the cons:
-have to be wary of type of flavour (nothing acidic and cinnamon including some colas)
-the ml markings are wrong (my guess is it really only fills 1.1ml and you can't even get to the bottom because it's hard to get the juice on the wick, if you fill to 1.6ml you might get leakage)
-some airflow issues with authentic Joyetech eGo-T batts (I have 2 and one is okay but the other is really tight... I know, probably my battery, but I don't get that with other cartos)

I rotated 4 for about 3 weeks... they all have hairline cracks but only 1 leaking.

I do also get the liquid in mouth if I turn it totally upside down to wick so I just turn it 90 degrees instead.

can someone explain this "dry burn" you guys are talking about??? I don't understand what that is.

Hey MadKat, be glad to.

After a few fills you'll prolly notice the juice getting darker and the taste getting not as fresh
as when you first filled it.

It's at this point I'll vape the e-liq down to .2-.5ml and dump it, either into a bottle or down the drain, your choice.
I'll often save it and dilute it way down with unflavoured vg/pg, add flavouring and "re-use" it.

Once it's empty I rinse it out a few times and dry everything off, shake it out some more and re-dry.

Making sure the contacts are dry it gets attached to a PV or battery. I like the Provari or vari-volt
'cause I gradually increase the voltage as I go.

With the drip tip off, on low voltage(4 or so) begin firing the SD for 3 sec. intervals while gently blowing
any vapour away from the top.

I wait 10-15 secs. between firings. After 3 or 4 cycles I'll up the voltage a couple notches to say 4.4v.

Cycle 3 or 4 more times, only 3 or 4 seconds per each firing.
Increase voltage again and repeat.

At some point as you are gently blowing, you'll notice vapour coming off the coil.

Continue the process(3 sec. burn followed by 10-15sec. rest) until the coil is
glowing red and the vapour is gone.

At any time in this process you notice the coil is very red or a burnt smell
stop dryburning....you're firing it too long or you're done.

Refill to the top of the wicks, do a couple dry pulls then short primer puffs
and your SD should be running good as new.

Time firing and resting are guidlines only but have worked well for me so far.

Lots of examples on utube to watch also if you like.

Someone else may do it differently but this works for me.
No popped coils, haven't trashed one SD yet.

Hope this works for you.

Hitmetwice,

Does this work for a dual coil tank as well? I assume NO, since the filler would burn right? The reason I ask is I have wondered if there is any way to burn out the stuff in the carto when switching liquid, or do you just change it and let it the new liquid replace the old. I changed it once and kind of puffed on it a bit with no liquid in the tank to get the filler as empty as possible.

Thanks

Savu, yeah the filler would burn. You can try cleaning them by boiling, flushing them out with a syringe/turkey baster type thing, and then try to dry them somehow. In my experience, its not worth it, they never work well afterwards. I've only done it on cartos that were ready to throw out though, YMMV on ones that are still working well, but i wouldn't bother. Cartos are cheap enough to stick with one flavor each imo, even flanged, punched tank cartos.

Vape as much juice out of them as you can without burning them is probably the only thing you can do with them to change flavors. You will get a overlap of flavor for a bit, hopefully they taste ok together.

As for dry burning; I don't know if the wick is the same on stardusts, but when i dry burn my 1.2ml visions, i do it a little differently. I will dry burn until it stops giving off vapor, even if it smells burnt. I think its just burning any gunk on the coil, the wick stay white and doesn't burn. After, i will rinse it out again to get rid of any ash, then do a short dry burn to dry it again. I've been using one for a month and half, cleaned it twice, and its still like brand new.
