I'm getting a good number of misfires on my TOX, but I don't know whether to blame it on the micro switch or myself. The switch button is almost flush with the case, so maybe I'm just not always pressing it correctly. I'm sure they designed it this way to prevent accidental activation while not in use, but that's hardly necessary since the 5 click turn off does the same thing.

I can live with an occasional misfire, but the flush button has been a real PITA. Ordinarily I can easily find the button of other type batteries by feel, but I can't with this one without having to fumble around to locate it. It's worse than the button on a KR808-D battery, and I know that's why some people have had occasional misfires on it.

So I believe the button on this thing ought to stick out further in order to make things a bit easier for an old man like myself. I don't really mind some of the other faults with with this battery, but THIS IS THE GREATEST GRIPE I HAVE WITH IT.

I am thinking about gluing something on top of the button.

you can get round sticky back rubber bumper pads at any art supply or hardware store that are about the size of the button which would work admirably.

Oh and I third the request for DIY flavors, right now that's almost the only reason I buy anything from other stores.

I thought about something like that but have decided considering how monochromatic it is, I'll go with something more festive. I seem to remember the holiday store having some sticky back jolly rogers :D

they want to send the plastic heads right now, as they are ready, I rather not as i promised metal heads and that would be best, if people insist i will get the plastic ones, i figured you suffered already all this time, a few more days wont kill us and in turn everyone gets the the newest head with metal casing which would be stronger then the plastic heads.

i will warn everyone now, they wont hit 6volt on all carto, it depends ont he ohms as well, i mentioned they got a 1.7 to 4.5 or so and 2.8ohm to 5.5 to 5.8 , when they redid it to do full 6 volts it caused issues so they adjusted it to where it worked best with what was tested.

IMO 5.5 to 5.8 under load is not bad, how ever this is coming from a VV noob. I would not mind at all waiting for the metal head and that's what I would like to do if that's ok with you. As I said in my ticket I really appreciate all that you guys do, the no fuss approch GV has taken to this situation was top notch.

Definitely count me in as a metal head too!

I'm not getting a replacement from you, I'm buying the new head (went with other vendor initially... fool move on my part! lol), but yeah, I'd definitely hold out for the metal head in terms of my new purchase.

BTW, something odd happened and not sure if it's as a result of the head being temperamental, or maybe if one of my batts is going bad. I had an 18500 in there... had a full charge on the trustfire charger I have, overnight, no less. Few hours later, I went to puff on it, and the unit was somehow turned off, wouldn't turn back on till I replaced batt. So seemed to me like a batt isn't holding charge, but I'm no tech person. Its only happened a few times, but do any of you tech guys think that's as a result of the head malfunction, or does it sound like a bad batt issue? As an aside, if its the batt it dropped charge very quickly... went from full charge to no charge within a period of about 1.5 hours on a 18500.

Does the initial battery charge back up and do the same thing the next time you use it? If you don't get the same results from your second battery then my guess is you have a defective battery.

Like you I bought from a different dealer and sent my Tox back for a refund, but I seem to remember it has a button combination or something that shows you the current voltage of your bat, I would watch that from the time you put it in fully charged until it is depleted to see if in fact it is losing it's charge that fast. I think your directions show you how.

The chart below is compiled with the max voltage my Lavatube would provide at various
ohm cartos/atty, most of which came from GV.

I did the test with a fully charged bat, first column and a depleted bat, second column.

Most of the tests are between 2.5A and 2.7A so I'm assuming they are pretty close to
what you can expect from a new Tox.

1.7ohm@4.6V=12.5W=2.7A and 2.8ohm@5.8V=12W are the Tox numbers from the factory

Single click the chart to read it.

I was disappointed to see how much the carto voltage dropped as the battery volts dropped. Lavatube claims the volts at the head will remain constant as the battery
drains. obviously not so. Hopefully Tox will do better.
