Got mine yesterday, thanks guys, this thing works great even with dual coils, only thing odd I noticed is sometimes the display get kinda screwy after you take a toot but I can live with that.
I noticed that when I first started it with a low battery but it was fine with fully charged batteries, and it only seemed to affect the hit counter/battery level screen, and havn't noticed it since so not a huge issue.

I may have gotten a new type today, but really can't say for sure. Bad has a habit of throwing a bunch of stuff to me down here in the basement and I never know if it is a prototype, new product, reject or upgrade.

Among all the junk he sent, there was a control unit for a Tox, but it sure ain't made out of metal. As a matter of fact, it looks exactly like the old plastic one. The only physical difference I noticed was that it wouldn't fit on the battery tube unless the two parts were pressed together with a vise. I haven't tried to wrench them apart yet.

Instead, I went ahead and gave it a few quick tests with two different cartomizers. One measures 2.7Ω and the other measures 3.OΩ. I have a special rig for testing PV's while in actual use, and the voltage measurements taken while under load is fairly accurate.

So, how does the new one work? The answer is that it works just like it's supposed to. The voltage I see in the TOX window is the same as the voltage on my meter. Not at just a few different voltage settings, but every single one from 3.0 volts to 6.0 volts. Sure, I read a slight difference on my meter because it goes out to one more decimal, but for all practical purposes the voltages are the same.

Since these voltages are regulated, they were the same for the 2.7Ω cartomizer and the 3.OΩ cartomizer. This means that the battery can produce 2.2 amps or 13.3 watts at 6 volts with a 2.7Ω load. I only vaped at this power long enough to verify the voltage, and can't say how well the battery would hold up at this setting. It scares me to even think about what this thing would do with a 1.2Ω load at this voltage setting. Hopefully it has some kind of protection to prevent an idiot from trying to get more than 3.5 amps out of a battery this small without it exploding.

Now I'll have to say this. The readings I made may not be the same as yours. My new head is made out of plastic and your new one is made out of metal. Are yours the same as mine? damfino.

I'd be willing to bet that's the same thing we got... doesn't seem to be 'metal' per se... may well be some sort of odd aluminum or other light metal with a sort of plasticey coating of black on it. Looks almost just like the original tube bodies, but seems to have a slightly larger 'grain' to the black coating. And glad as heck its holding voltage under load! And yeah, pain in the tail to get on the bottom tubes, initially (I didn't think mine was gonna go on either of them, at all) but if you work it back and forth, eventually it'll go on, and then subsequent twist offs and back ons are much easier. There's a little breaking in period, there. I'd much rather have that than one that wouldn't 'lock' on, of course. But as for me.. hardly ever take off the larger tube, about the only way I would is if I got the 18650 tube, so I'm happy as all heck Thanks, Br!

the main casing on mine is definitely metal, nicked an edge on the fitting end and can see metal underneath, the cap on top is still plastic I think, but I was more concerned about the fitting itself being metal, didn't want those little flanges breaking off with use, of course that doesn't mean they won't break off on the battery end of the fitting because those are still plastic but replacing the battery casing if that breaks will be a lot cheaper than replacing the head. and yeah they were really hard to connect to the battery end the first time out.

So i hope you all see we care, we took the heat but waited it out, now i wont partying over this as this should of been handled long ago but at least we all have version 3 and its vastly improved, there have been a 2 people with head issues with these new ones but they are completly faulty which i expected out of 120 or so new metal heads, so far the reports have been positive and many like all the improvements(holds time) (better button) (metal casing) (better voltage).

So now as we grow and make changes and have more factories and traders willing to work with us more then ever we will see imporvements happening and better products hitting our site.

THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT AT GOTVAPES.COM

Thank you everyone for being patient while they where being made and shipped, I appreciate the kind words and I hope the results suit you all. With these new heads the tox kit is now a very good kit at a great value

+1 on that. I'm telling all my noobies about it, and making sure to specify purchase only at GV, cause I know a bunch of vendors still have discounts on the kits with old heads. NOT comparable, not at all. And can't tell you how much we appreciate the footwork you guys put into these new ones! I know nothing is ever easy dealing with Chinese manufacturing, and yeah, of course would have been great to have it resolved in a week, but such is life. MUCH happier with the delay to get a quality product in the end... and I know 90% of why we're all vaping happy now is due to you guys at GV and the time and energy you put into this. So thank you!

I have spent the last few days testing the TOX head, with and without load. I have to admit, the numbers look really good. They are much better than the first two heads, and are almost spot on. The following changes where the most important to me, when I first sent you my list of "demands".

1) Consistant Voltages
2) Metal Head
3) Voltage as the first function on the menu
4) Retaining clock function when you switch the batteries.

All 4 have been met! Granted, the clock only gives you a few seconds, but I don't even set mine. If this was the product they released 3 months ago, it would have been a winner!

My favorite thing, is that it opens the draw on items, like the Gripper VV does. So, I have been using the TOX, and really liking it.

I, for one, and very glad that you waited. I also received a V2 head for testing, and even though it was better than the first, it was still a mess. Glad to see that the mess was cleaned up!

rofl... Ok, so I'm sleep deprived, but spent a good 15 mins trying to figure out what sorta network functions ya'll could possibly be talking about Tox doing. Then the 'sent from Tox w nova' thing finally connected. rofl Thanks for the early morning chuckle. And YEAH! KNB, I know you've been dying to get yer paws on the new one, so I'll say a prayer that the fickle gods of usps smile kindly on ya. ;)

I got mine Friday and been in vape heaven since :vapor: I hope you did not get on the phone and ask your ISP WTF is going on with your service because your TOX will not load ECF :matrix:

If you will take an old bar of soap with a reasonably sharp edge and rub the sharp edge around the mating surfaces (the point is to get a coating of dry soap on the mating surfaces for lubrication purposes) you'll find they will go together much easier.

It's good for any number of sticky applications like poor fitting sticky doors that no one has gotten around to refitting. :)

05-24-2012, 09:19 AM - Chris and I put our heads together (scary thought) and we will have exciting news on that possibly today, in its own special announcement thread. Big changes coming soon...

Not up yet Errol, when I put it up you won't be able to miss it... : )

It's been three days so I guess I did miss it! :)
