I just bought a couple Vivi Nova tanks. I sometimes get a slight burnt taste while vaping Boba's in my Novas tanks. I am using the tanks on a Provari set at 3.9v and the head is 2.8ohms. If I go anywhere above 3.9v I seem to get a bad taste. From the reading that I did, I read that with 2.8ohm I could go 4.4v and up. How is everyone else using the Nova tanks with Boba's? How is the taste? I still switch off to one of my REO's and squonk (feed juice into) every 5 or 6 hits into a 1.8ohm xl carto and get awesome flavor, but want to be able to enjoy Boba's out of my tank. Anyone have any other suggestions on tanks that work well with Boba's? I am pretty new to the world of tanks. Thanks.

I'm using a mini vivi nova with Boba's and I have no issues so far. Tilting it seems to help wick it if the juice level gets 1/2 down. I haven't tried chain vaping it though. Also, it could be that you got a bad head on the vivi nova. Trying changing it and see if the issue goes away. I usually recoil my vivi nova heads, and that seems to help a lot.

I have had issues with the Vivi Nova 2.8 ohm heads, I get burnt taste as well, and not only with Boba's juice. I use the 1.8 ohm heads at the same voltage (4v) as the 2.8's and get no burnt taste at all. I'm pretty sure is how the wicks on the 2.8's work, too constricted by the coils.

Got gunky quick for me. I put a SS wick in my nova and have been puffing away on bobas for about 3 days now with no issues. On last visual check it still looks 'clean'. No flavor issues yet either. I'm thinking the SS is key, plus I can dry burn the hell out of it more so than I could with silica.

My question with queries like this is why is the e-liquid the first thing to troubleshoot? VG vaporizes at the same temp, regardless. This is a physical law. Nothing should be getting scorched, burnt, or any of the other myriad of ways we can say "tastes funny".

I always use this flow for troubleshooting issues like this -> voltage vs. resistance (what temp are you trying to vape at.) -> device -> e-liquid. (though to be honest I haven't ever made it to the final step.)

Also, make sure the creator of your device thought about the future of the product before creating it. Did they only use PG in the device before disseminating it to the masses? Then likely you will only want PG based e-liquids in there. Did they only use VG? Then PG might be too thin for the device. Find a maker that puts all of the factors they can into the device before putting it on the market. Those will be the ones that perform the best regardless of the knee jerk reviews we often see.

It's bad when the device you buy can get up to a temp high enough to burn the filler material. You have a NICE range between vaporization and burning. A good engineer will account for that so that the materials used in the device do not become victims of the device.

Especially if you are getting "the perfect vape" and that changes mid-bottle, this should scream that something is wrong with the device...and yet... it is usually the last thing considered.

... sorry for the tangent.

I just got some 3.2 ohm heads for my Vivi Nova tank yesterday and it's been great with Boba's so far at 5v on the ProVari. I was having the periodic burnt taste with the 2.8 ohm heads as well, usually in the 4.3-4.8v range. Funny thing is I've only had the issue with Boba's Bounty, but not using ePipeMods' Pipe Sauce blends, which are ~98% VG, but thinner than Boba's. I assume the lower resistance heads have some wicking issues with the viscosity on AVE's VG juices.

recently, I "thought" I had a problem with AVE juice ... Ben replaced the juice ... after testing, steeping, more testing, I concluded it was definitely NOT the juice, nothing wrong with it all ... so I apologize to you Ben ... I agree, it is rarely the juice that is problematic

re: Vivi Novas, they definitely change the taste imho, I've tried a lot of clearomizers over the years, they've all had issues, the common issue being muted taste, burnt taste or different taste ... I can use the same mod, same wattage, comparable voltage of course, different ohm heads, same juice, and the v2.5 Vivi Novas taste is not near as flavorful as a standard Boge, either alone or inside a pyrex tank

I am not a dripper and the ONLY reason I recently purchased the Vivi Nova was to use with nets (naturally extracted tobaccos) which clog carts quickly, even the cleaner nets ... I've had some nets I really like, but they clog a Boge after 5-6 mls ... other, cleaner nets, I can run thru 10-12 mls ... with the Vivi Novas, so far, I get comparable vaping time, but they are easier to clean and cheaper to replace the heads, more so than throwing out and replacing several cartos ... I haven't run a lot of nets thru my Nova yet, so my opinion may change ... but my one opinion that still stands is that all the clearomizers I've tried will mute or change the juice taste ... I have tested these types of clearos against stand alone cartos or cartos inside tanks, and I've never found one yet that gives a flavorful, true taste, sometimes close, but never a ringer ... my :2c: from a 4 year vaper and a 40 year ex-smoker

nets are usually far stronger than lab juices so even tho the Nova may slightly mute the taste, that may not be too bad a thing with strong, in your face naturally extracted tobacco juice ... just started testing, so no clear conclusion yet re: the VN and taste

I haven't had a burning taste problem, however, with VIVI's and other clearos, it seems that one of the flavors in bobas doesn't get absorbed into wicks. It gives a different taste than you get when I am dripping directly on an Atty. To test my theory, I got a Phoenix Rebuildable atomizer. It originally came with wicks and I got the same problem with the taste as I had with Vivi Novas. So I took it all apart and bought stainless steel mesh and setup a "Genesis Style" atomizer and then it finally gave me the same Bobas flavor that I've been used to. I highly recommend everyone learn how to setup a stainless steel mesh with their tanks.

My vivi tanks do not wick ave juice well at all. It tastes burnt from start to finish no matter what wick it has except for rebuilding it with ss mesh which is a pain. People who say theirs wicks perfectly well with 100% vg probably don't know how good it can be when it's actually wicking properly. Either that or they just may not chain vape as bad as me.

Might want to look into carto tanks if you havent already.Ive had the same experience you have with novas and ave juice and IMO cartos cant be beat for convenience or taste with these juices.
