The 32AWG 0.202 seems to work the best for me, I also ordered the Titanium, this should be dam good and better then the Kanthal I think.

On a second note,, the little silicon piece on top of the Stardust center pole that sits on the top, fits perfectly over the ceramic cups in the older VV Nova's and they work very good to stop them from leaking, or gurgling, and that little center pin on them also fits perfectly into the bottom of hole of the screw on top cap.

Made some new juice,.mixed 80% vg 20% water, then mixed overall with 5% vodka. Seems to have made the difference. Wicking better, burning better, good vapour and TH. Still not consistent, but I suppose that is unachievable with a setup like this. The wick does seem to blacken up very quickly though, must be the juice burning on the kanthal. Using 5 wraps of 0.2mm on 2mm cotton wick running on a lavatube at around 3.3 volts, with the modded atty with Teflon sleeve and stainless pin. Seems to work well, no hot legs, got 5 days before it started to clog up, took it out and washed it and there was superficial scorch marks on the wick, but no major damage. Just a case of practice, will keep using modded atty as it seems to be working well. Still getting used to the little quirks of the vivi!!!! In reference to the titanium, there is a place in the UK, but you need to buy a lot!!!! www.ti-shop.com/titanium-ti/ti-wire/ti-grade-2/0-20mm-dia-x-coil-ti-gr2-annealed-wire

Ugggh, I just can't get it right.

I have 32 gauge nichrome. Did 6-7 coils and got 1.8ohm. Tried the above posts suggestion of double wrapping the legs and now it's 1.6ohm.

I guess this will be a lost cause for me. I ordered some 34 gauge, so I will give it one more try, but I have a feeling I'm not going to get it right.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I bought the 34 gauge Kanthal. With about 4 wraps around a #1 size 100% square braid cotton candle wick I am getting 3.0 to 3.1 ohm reading.

Last night I tried out the leg wrapping idea just for fun. With 5 wraps I got exactly 3.0 ohm readings.

By the way, I know the earlier poster mentioned leaving the legs a little longer and doubling back I couldn't get that to work for me with the twisting part. I gave that up and tried just cutting a new piece of wire and wrapping that around the legs. It was much easier for me although I am sure I am using way too much wire! lol

Problem is, I can't find kanthal. Sailorman said the same thing.

I wonder if nichrome is a lower resistance.

Doubling up the legs will lower the overall resistance, because you're halving the resistance of the legs. That's just a precaution to keep from burning the stupid seal in the connector. Sometimes it doesn't seem to be an issue, so some don't bother. I've had it happen, and the taste is horrible.

According to the numbers that I have seen, every 2 gauge smaller in diameter multiplies the resistance by approximately 1.55, so going from the larger diameter 32 gauge to the smaller diameter 34 gauge should net you about a 2.5 ohm coil if you do it exactly the same way as you did the 1.6 ohm one.

If you want less length on the coil, either try keeping the loops closer together, or make it a bigger diameter coil. I'd suggest making it bigger diameter. Depending upon your wick material, you may just be able to run a thicker needle/paperclip or whatever along side of it when wrapping it, as long as the wick expands to fill it when wet. A thicker wick may also work well for that.

Others use a small rod or small machine screw to wrap the wire around first, then pull the wick through it. You have to find something the right size for that, which may not be easy. I've heard of some using 4-40 screws.

Me, I use a small bit of cotton ball, with a fairly big paper clip leg along side it, and about 4-5 loops of 34 gauge NiCr 80/20. Ends up being 2-2.5 ohms. The coil isn't choking the wick that way, because I'm giving it some room to expand.

Thank you so much. You really cleared things up. The way they were explaining it, I thought doubling the legs would increase the resistance.

Now I kinda wish I would have bought 36 gauge instead of 34. I would like to end up between 2.4-2.8ohms. 6-7coils is a bit much to fit in the cup. I also have #2 cotton on the way, so maybe that will help.

Try the 34ga nichrome80, 16.7Ω/ft

32ga Kanthal 13.8Ω/ft. Nichrome, 10.6Ω/ft

There is always room for experiments.

This Vapage atty is highly praised.

Note the minimum wraps.

Guess this is going to be down to preference but as usual there are a couple of thoughts going around about coiling.

The followers of the HH357 and the unreleased new Vapage Hybrid rate those attys so highly in part due to the amount of coils and then the subsequent carbon build up giving an even greater actual area for juice to atomise therefore more vapor.

There is a following of people in the rebuildable world that are using fewer coils under the theory that the coils will burn hotter therefore producing more vapor.

Having used the HH and rebuildables put me in the I don't know yet column but I will be having fun finding out which I prefer lol

Certainly a difference, Cisco's atties are of the full cup school.

Here's an Aero.

While I tried it with the 34 gauge nichrome and got 2.6ohms with 4 wraps, right where I want to be.

I took one drag and it was horrible. The taste was disgusting. Juice was wicking, volts were right. Then I noticed, the guy sent me Nichrome 60 instead of 80.

Does anybody know if that is what is causing the horrible taste? Guess I'm out eight dollars on this too.

I really wish I could find some kanthal a

Did you try the link I posted in response above? When I checked it out on Ebay the vendor had some in stock.

Yep, it says the listing is ended and he doesn't have any more up for sale. I sent him an email asking if he has any.

Thanks

Wow. I did another check and you're right. I find one place but the price is outrageous! 45.00 for it. Sorry about that. Hopefully you can keep checking back and get it at some point.

I never even saw that. I just left a vape meet where someone was selling it for $1 a strand (enough to make 1 vivi head). That's how hard it is to get now

I've used nichrome 60 without issue for months, in 32/34/36 gauges. I actually much prefer it over kanthal.

Why does it seem to have a horrible taste? Like something burning.
At first I thought it was the cotton wick, so I tried regular wick and had the same taste.
