One reason I suggest and use JBWeld is that I spent a long time on the phone with one of their application engineers discussing it's suitability for submerging it into E-juice. He was aware of this use already and assured me that it was safe for this application. (although Cinnamon flavors didn't come up).

Sweet.

Been looking for a thread like this one. Must confess have zero interest in the tank component but $3 or so for a rebuildable atty that fits and works on my VMod is another matter.

Had a little play time so far before I managed to drop the one I had between the planks of my gazebo losing it.
Will be back when I have my laptop to hand.

my vivi arrived last week, then i waited for the cotton wick then started the rebuild. been having trouble ever since. i replaced the bottom rubber washer with a teflon sleeve which seems to work, there is no burning on that, but the wick keeps burning. no matter what i try (different number of wraps, different kanthal etc) the wick keeps burning!!! i am using it on a lavatube, starting on low voltage and building up. once i get a good flavour and throat kick the wick starts to burn!!! help!!! i need some tips as my patience is running thin!!! i have now modded the atomiser a bit more vn1.jpg maybe it's my mod that is causing the problem!! any advice greatly received!!! i've tasted the difference between a carto and cotton so i need to get this working!!! thanks.

Perhaps a bit more info.
Wick size , type, voltage, ohms, that may help.

And it could be something as simple as the + side of the coil touching the inside of the metal tube that it sits in. That will get real hot real fast.

wick size 2mm 100% cotton wick (boiled, dried then soaked before firing) 0.16mm and 0.2mm kanthal, both have the same effect!!! start the voltage at 3 then work up to no more than 5 volts. i pre wrap the kanthal on a m2.5 bolt, which allows me to thread the wick through. the ones i have used i have to unwrap the kanthal off the wick as it expands enough to grip it. what number of wraps would you recommend? the new bottom washer and centre pin finish just below the wick so there is less chance of hot legs!!! thanks doc.

just unscrewed it, it's saying 2.8!

2.8 should handle 4.5 to 5 volts.
just a guess but it kinda sounds like it's a lot less when it's firing. like something is shorting the coil. When the coil is firing at high voltage it (might) warp a good bit. I'm not sure.

they all seem to get like that!!! wrapped that one by hand, with a needle to create a little space.... maybe my wrapping is wrong. i'm worried about getting it too tight and choking the wick, too loose and everthing glows!!!! watched and read most stuff regarding vivi rewicking and rewinding. people who have bought the same wick as me don't appear to have the same problems!!! cheers doc!

I'd love to see these things crossed with a part from Scubabatdans V3s. Where the cup is ceramic so there would be no worries about shorting and Scuba's spring loaded wire clips (on the outside of the cup just below each slot) so there would never a hot leg problem.
Just make the coil/wick and drop it into the slot and wrap the ends of the wire around his spring loaded posts. wala, done.
You wouldn't need all that 510 threaded stuff inside the tube either if the spring loaded posts were made with good materials. but it would make changing the coil at work easier if it stopped working suddenly.

Yes they are. Well just a thought, they come with 3 heads, try just rewicking one of the other heads with no mods just new cotton wick and wire and see how that works for you.
just tried, tested at 2.5 ohms ran at 3.3 volts, same thing happened. either the wick isn't what it says it is (probably not!!) or my winding skills need a lot of practice! lavatube getting quite hot, there must be a short somewhere?
