Might be easier to keep posting the link to the other thread that has the extensive list of juices and additives that have caused cracking, and add to that one if a juice you had trouble with isn't already there. Will be helping a larger number of people, and not reinventing the wheel.

I realize that SI just took the Stardust and had it tweaked to fit on the X2/Volt nicely. So if they were able to have the manufacturer do that, then maybe they could also ask them to use a more friendly material for the tank tube as well, like whatever juice bottles or syringes are made of.

Plus, if we can narrow down what chemical in the juices (besides triacetin) that is causing the problem, maybe that will keep someone from cracking their own.

Unfortunately, the more vendor sites I go to, the more I notice that they don't tell you what's in their liquids. I think that's a shame. This is stuff we're inhaling into our bodies. I think it would be nice if they told us what chemicals we were using. Most of us just go by what tastes good, which is fine, but we should have the info available if we want it.

Okay, so much for the soapbox.

Here is a list of flavors that I've used in my clearos that were just fine. Feel free to add to it.

-- SI Chocolate (any SI liquid will be without issue)
--Americaneliquids Tobacco
--The Flavor Apprentice (TFA) Lemon [DIY]
--TFA Strawberry [DIY]
--TFA Black Cherry [DIY]
--TFA Double Chocolate (Awesome when added to Strawberry) [DIY]
--TFA Tobacco Blend [DIY]

I received my clearomizers yesterday and started using them immediately. Been using ECBlend banana twinkle in one and RY4 in the other. 50/50 blend and I am loving this system. Think I found the right combination for vaping and will have a hard time going to carts again except they carry easier for certain places and will use them then. These are great and no problems thus far. SI X2 batts + these clearomizers are the ultimate combo for me. Wish I had these from the beginning. Of course it has been only one day. No problems yet but thanks to others in this thread and the posts about juices that could cause problems I know what to watch for. Thanks SI - these are great and work very well for me.

I got a yellow one and a blue one yesterday. I have the yellow one full of Desert Joe on an X2 900. On my second fill with no burn, no dry hits, and no leaking or flooding yet. The vapor is very consistent on these, and I am enjoying it so far. I plan on filling the blue one with either Acid Cigar or Tobak Especial later. Just waiting for the black ones to come in so I can order more. This is definitely not the same experience I have had with clearos in the past. These are great!

It's probably not JUST the polycarbonate shell though. It could also be the stress caused by heat expanding the innards (o-rings, seals, liquid off-gassing, etc.) that might be causing them to crack. But yeah, with sooo many different kinds of plastic out there now...
Here's one: Eastman Tritan Copolyester

Sure, in some cases. But the one where it was just sitting there all innocent and the guy dribbled a little juice on the outside... that thing crumbled in just minutes. It was scary to watch.
Yeah, it sounds like a chemical reaction thing to me...what's up with the plasticizers and stuff in liquids anyway?

I have a question for the clearomizer users: Does soaking them in vodka, like someone mentioned before, help prolong the life of the wicking material?

I'm asking because I've been refilling one clearo with the same juice, and was wondering if I should just keep at it, or if I should periodically clean them even if I'm not changing flavors.

Any feedback will be appreciated.

The wicks do come out cleaner, and I would consider a vodka dip before refilling with the same juice, if I felt the clearo was getting a bit cruddy.

I don't want to give anyone the impression that I have a special vodka cleaning technique, or use vodka to scrub these and make them clean as new.

I just soak them in vodka for about 10 minutes (could be 5, could be 20) and use a syringe to shoot vodka into all the nooks and crannies (or not), then drain and dry on a paper towel (or just refill and go). I make it up as I go.

My only intent is to quickly clean off most of the crud, thickened juice, and finger/lip gunk, so I can refill and get on with my life. I'm OK with a little bit of the old flavor or some vodka fumes for a few toots.

I am just as quick to pitch it and grab a new one. After all, these are a disposable product.

i think I may have figured out my burnt juice problem. when filling another clearomizer for my ego, which is clear, I got a burnt taste right away. when looking at it, I noticed the top of the wick was still dry. Are these things supposed to be primed?? if so, how do you do that?

I just fill mine to the top line, lay it down horizontally for about 1/2 hour then vape away. Not had a dry/burnt hit since doing this. The thing to avoid is leaving it in a vertical position for long. I also rarely let mine get below the .8 line before topping it up again; rather quick and painless with these clearos.

they should be laid on their side for like 10 min before the first use.

I'm running Vermillion River liquids through my three. Pomegranate, Hawaiian Pineapple, and Peachwood. Rinsed the Pineapple one with hot water and swooshed a few times with a turkey baster (from both ends), after the 4th fill. Dried for a few hours, filled it back up, and performance hasn't degraded. The other two are on their 4th or 5th fill, I've lost count. If you have VR liquids you want to try in these, I'm sure you could get an honest report on how they do in clearos, over on the VR thread.

If you want a quick dry after your rinse you can use the canned air they sell at Wally's or almost anywhere to clean keyboards. If performance drops you can dry burn while looking down the tube doing 5 second burns until the coil glows evenly. Just make sure to rinse after the dry burning to clean the ash out or it'll taste funky.

Sad to say my first (and only) clearomizer is starting to bit the dust after about 2 weeks of use. I noticed that after a week I started to get a very slight leak on the battery end that would cause a gurgling when inhaling. I started getting worse so I investigated. I noticed two tiny cracks at the bottom that at this time havent spread farther than the metal edge there. I believe these were caused by overtightening the clearo when putting on. I also noticed a few days ago that I seem to have lost the rubber band like thing at the top side, which may be why it began leaking? Thought I'd check here and see if anyone else has one needing to be replaced yet?

Overall I really liked the clearo, and definitely want more. I found the lack of having to refill nice, the taste superb, I did find that it used considerably more liquid, and on weekends I found myself using 3-5ml a day, which is a lot for me. Usually I go through like 1 or 2ml a day. However, I also got increased vapor compared to the standard cartos, so it makes sense to be using more.

The Link was origianlly posted only a couple of pages back here #237:http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ml-nicquid-8-color-choices-6.html#post5834238

AND - Quoted below with direct link:

"this is a thread that I came across that concerns "Nic-Juice" that can "Crack" Tanks/CE2/Clerao's on the main ECF Forum that IMO people should read just as a possble "Heads-Up":

I do hope that this information is helpful . . .

Not so sure this is a good idea Wuzz. Nowadays most compressed air manufacturers are adding "bitters" to their canned air to discourage huffers. I found out the hard way using it to blow out atomizers awhile back. Makes for a nasty flavor that takes a long time to dissipate.

Well I'll be. I wuzznt aware of that Rave. I just looked on my can and it said a bitterant had been added to discourage inhalant abuse. Don't know why but I got no taste from it at all though. It's still nothing I want to be inhaling so I guess I won't be doing that anymore. I'm crushed now. Thought I had a good idea. Back to the drawing board, or drying board as the case may be lol. Thanx for sharing that.
