I think he means he pulled out the ALF (anti leak filter that wraps in a thin layer around the base). We've only found that it might affect wicking 'slightly' if you are using a thicker juice...its somethign honestly you probably won't feel a need to do...

Why did you pull out the seal?

I haven't taken one apart yet so I'm courious as to how it affects wicking in any way.
Isn't it just a bit of teflon like tape to ensure it doesn't leak?

I found myself constantly ADDING a seal like that for the CE2 clearo's.

Gotcha :)
That's what I thought it was...so it's not really glue in there at all, it's an ALF to insure a good seal right?

its a alf sheet wrapped around the cup and then some plant cellulose at the base to seal the tube to the base.
I'll be ordering these soon and was wondering if I do decide to remove the alf sheet or just remove the tube to see how they clean up what kind of adhesive (plant cellulose?), other than super glue, would work best?? - also can these be dry burned??

You don't need anythign like super glue, soemthign gentle and safe will do to keep in place - you may find a lil starch and water smudged on with your finger will be fine...these are disposeable products. If I get three days or so out of one I am very happy considering the relative cost....

I will say this--the ALF isn't really even a huge issue. We brough this up only if people want to tinker etc...we are using ours with the ALF in place with no problems...

wE ARE HAVING THE MOUT PEACE IMPROVED AND YOU CAN USE A DRIPTIP ON THEM, THEY WILL BE VERY POCKET FRIENDLY IN THE NEXT BATCH IN ABOUT 2 TO 3 WEEKS.

GREAT REVIEW AND MUCH APPRECIATED
so the new batch coming in will take a drip tip??? - slightly larger internal diameter?? - and once again, the current vortex will not accept a drip tip??

No he meant that if the VorTexes mouthpiece is too loose for you to put in your pocket you can put a drip tip on them - fits very nicely...also as OP video showed he used one of the CE2 softcaps on his as it fits perfect down to the tube to seal....

What viscosity juice are you using? I typically use 70/30 or 60/40 PG/VG.

so like...use the mouth piece on the vortex the way it comes AND slip a drip tip on it?

No, the mouth piece is a drip-tip replacement. It has a neat tactile feel due to the grooves around it. It's nice and soft, so doesn't click on your teeth.

You can pop this out and replace it with your favorite 510/808/305 drip tip.
CE2 plugs also work.
In fact...many carto plugs will probably work....if you have something you want to use but doesn't quite seal, you can also cut off the bottom part of the Vortex mouthpeice with a good sharp razor and make a kind of inner seal, then pop your favorite whatever on top of that.

With the old CE2 sleeves...I found that if I took them apart, upon putting them back together they could develop leaks.

My easy solution was to grab a roll of teflon tape (plumbers use this to seal the threads on water pipes) from the tool box...give it a couple of wraps to make a gasket in there, put it back together, and no more leaks. After a few trys I found ways to do it where the likelyhood of the stuff coming in contact with much if any juice would be slim to none...plus, the stuff is used with water pipes and in sensitive distilling machines and such every day out in the real world...has no taste, and should be plenty safe for a PV seal. This tactic also allowed me to milk a little more life out of clearo sleeves that develop cracks at the ends.

The Teflon tape will turn pretty close to clear once it's good and wet and seals it off good. It'll also compress into a very small space without 'tearing'...especially when wet.

I don't anticipate having to take a Vortex apart...it'll be rare if I do :)
A roll of plumber's teflon tape makes a great seal if I do...
