I guess it's just me I but I find those 4.8v batteries incredibly disappointing they come off the charger at 5.6v but under load they drop to 4.3v then peter out in an 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I was so happy to get a kick for my grand at least I can get a good 5 -6 hours out of a kicked aw imr 18490 I don't know maybe I got a bad set of 4.8v ( they're 600mah ) sure can't wait for the VV grand!

I love my 4.8v batts and I get half a day out of mine

you can only do 6v in a Mini and thats with stacking 2-IFR 14250's 4.8nimh batts are for the Grande

That won't be for long. The 4X1/3 AA sized ni-mh batts have been around for a long time but end up sizing 14650 which is a bit too long for a mini. I recently attended a small vaper gathering that included a handful of our northern neighbors. One of the Canadians broke out a handful of battery boxes that had some 4x1/4 aa ni-mh batts. He skinned one to show it needed some metal (looked like lead, but maybe it was some alloy) spacers in between the cells to get the length right. The difference in size between it and a protected AW ICR was only the thickness of the button top. The downfall is that they are only about 300 mah. --

300 mah sounds pretty bad, but he had something that looked like a PCC that could charge a pair at a time and he said it could completely charge 4 to 5 batts before it was drained. Also interesting is that the PCC charger bays were individual, so you could drop a dead battery in and leave a full one in =- the dead one will charge and the full one won't. Or you could drop in 2 batts that are differently charged (say 1 at 50% and the other at 90%) and when the 90% one is done, it will continue only charging the 50% one.

He was cagey with the details about who is making them or where he was getting them etc. All he would say is that by mid-summer, there should be three or four Canadian vendors selling them and at least three US vendors selling them too.

300 to 350 mah is nothing to write home about but if you're willing to carry a PCC that charges two batts at a time, a person should be able to make it through a day.

Which battery is recommended for the VV grand? I see mention of the 18350 and 16340. The 18350 has a bit more mahs and looks to be a bit bigger. I assume both will be stacked in the VV grand and there is no issues with collapsing springs?

You can use either battery. Most are recommending the 18350's (like you said) due to the extra mahs

IMR 18350's, mind you. I have a pair of protected li-ion Trustfire 18650's 18350's and they're too tall to fit into my VV Woodvil.

Edit: Oops. Typo.

The tens of thousands of requests that hit the server in a sale just can not be handled fast enough (...) so, to conclude - we will have evil sale nights in the future, and we can't do much about it.
I managed to get out of the sale with 2 VV Woodvilles (and actually found the chaos to be somewhat entertaining) so don't take this as a complaint from a disgruntled would-be purchaser... but I don't understand why it has to be this way. Why couldn't Rob just use some sort of pre-packaged solution? Something along the lines of Amazon cloud web services, or even just an Amazon storefront -- there's just no way a couple thousand crazed REO lovers could even put a dent in a commerce solution like that. He could keep the images and other content on his own site if he wanted, but move the commerce somewhere that can handle the (sporadically) tremendous traffic. The nature of his business (low volume, high quality handcrafted merchandise) just doesn't seem to lend itself to maintaining and upgrading his own website and servers.

That said, I'm not sure I really want to see him make that move because I feel like all of the VV Woodvilles would have basically sold out in 2 minutes on a site that could handle the traffic. It would have been a flurry of decreasing quantities and then *poof* all gone. The way it actually went down on Saturday almost seemed more fair, in that it rewarded those of us who wanted it badly enough to sit around clicking refresh, reload, etc. for two hours!

This is a completely unsolicited opinion, and I know Rob has his own reasons for doing things the way he does... but if it were my business, I would really look into somehow auctioning off or pre-selling slots starting well in advance of release day. Those who prepay get to pick which mod they want, marching down the line in first-come first-serve order.

Of course, the other option is just to increase supply to keep up with demand, but that's easier said than done!

when i hit f5, it just goes to the mission control (mac Lion).... any tips for that? i just click the refresh arrow in the browser title bar.
Here is the best piece of advice I can give, from my own personal experience.

1 Computer - 1 Internet connection - 1 Browser - 1 Tab - 1 link right to the mod you want.

Go to the page you want. WAIT. Unless you see it not loading (ie the little circle or icon is not animating) or you receive an error (500 internal server error). If you do just hit F5 once and wait and see what it does, error again... Press F5. Its doing its loading (you see waiting for response from reosmods.com) just WAIT
Patience is your best friend for this.

Don't try and load another tab or window to another page on Rob's site. This also applies to using another computer on your network at home or work. It will not increase your chances, most servers will see the request from the same IP address and will not send the data (the page) until the first one is completed.

I just think that for whatever reason, some are just fated to have the first run VV Reo period. Woodville or Grand.
Some are better off learning from not getting what you want when you want it... blah blah.... :)
haha, market saturation point is a long way off but there's plenty to do with the conventional Reo's ... plenty.
make to do list: vape the hell out of it
