i havent metered them as i dont have a working meter. the first 2 i bought from i believe lighthound?? they sat around brand new for a month or so before i got my vv. for some reason they didnt work when i got my vv but for like 15 hits then stopped. the other4 i got from rtd last week. they came uncharged and both of the first 2 charged fine and went finefor a day or so. when i loaded 2 new ones in they wouldnt work but said they were charged on charger. the ones i took out only 1 would charge..the other said it was charged already even after being used all day yesterday. im just about to put the one that charges back in the vv to see if it works again.
You said WF-188? Right? I had one go wonky on me. First month one channel started varying charging and drained batteries. I caught it fast and took it out of service by putting a 6ml bottle in the bay. A few months later the second bay started doing the same but didn't notice it soon enough and it drained several older AW IMR 14500s down enough to kill them. They read 0 volts. It went straight to recycle bin. (I was topping up a bunch of old AW IMR 14500s that were little used so they were virtually "in storage.") The green "battery finished charging" light came on indicating full charge but they all came off first bad bay under expected 4.2v. I didn't do enough batteries, in that bay, before taking it out of service, to know if any would have been totally discharged. The remaining bay was the one that killed batteries as I wasn't paying close attention and left them on charger, some for many hours, after the light turned green. In both cases the green light came on so if there is any question about the charger don't use it!!!!!! You really need a functioning multi-meter to know what is going on with your batteries!!!!!!!
I frequently leave batteries on chargers over night expecting the charger to function properly and not over charge or discharge them. Not the best practice but I'm not alone in doing this. Note......... I always unplug lithium chargers when leaving house. Due to the chemistry of lithium batteries it's okay to interrupt charging cycle and restart it. I don't interrupt Ni-MH charging, though, so I do leave house with them on plugged in smart chargers. Ni-MH is a much safer chemistry while charging or discharging.
Hugs, Feisty Alice
{edit} Thinking back, like Dave said, sometimes the indicator light would turn green seconds after battery put in bay, for some batteries. This happened with both bays that went wonky.
