I was waiting for you to chime in . The button on the black grand would have to be like it is surface mounted its pushing it as it is there isn't much real estate under the insert

Let me clarify. I like the surface mounted button and where it's positioned. I could also like the recessed version but would prefer the button to be larger than the one pictured. And clicky. :D I understand it couldn't be quite the size of the side mounted woodvil style button, but the small nubby button seems small and nubby.

If I could hold it in my hand and try it, I might totally change my opinion, but you set up shop way too far north for that.

Whichever route you go, I'm confident it will work great and feel great. :)

I think the reccesed switch looks more GRANDish and clean looking. Although if the switch was just a hair longer or even a hair wider as Mudflap has suggested would be ideal. What about a slightly wider diameter bowl cut for the switch ? Might that make fireing easier, while keeping the button you have along with the clean grand look?

I did not like the right handed thumb slot! :?:

This isnt bad. Defenitly a fuctional button. But... I think it slightly takes away from the "look" of the grand. If you do go flush mount. What about a 3-click on/off flush mount button?

Just thinking out loud. Rob I'm sure you'll figure it out. Either way I will be happy with whatever you decide.

The VV Grand is my ultimate dream mod!!!!!!! As bad as I want it. I can wait for perfection! Keep us posted.

I like the larger button with the addition of an on/off switch. God forbid a button break on anyone, but that surface mount button looks very easy to replace. I also like the idea of an on/off switch where the mech grand button is. Sort of an homage to the old school. Of course, if the 3 push on/off option were available, that would fine too. TBH, I'm going to buy one regardless, even if you do end up using the little recessed nub (in which case I like the cone recessed nub more than the slot). I'm just curious, how many other buttons are you playing around with?

In regards to the increased capacity for cranking out metal mods, and if this isn't too personal, did you find a different machinist with more time on their hands, another machinist to turn out units in tandem, or maybe buy your own CNC equipment? The availability has defiantly increased (awesome), and I have a feeling that it wasn't due to decreased demand. It makes it easier to sell your mods for you when I don't have to say "You'll probably have to sign up for notification as he is usually out of stock." Either way, I'm glad for the increased availability.

Well of the two examples I like the black one with that button best. I really don't see how so many people accidently fire their REOs in their pockets. It use to happen to me with my old eGo but never a REO and I have only wood ones with plungers which are not pocket friendly. In anycase I'll leave the suggestion to those that use them and know them. I haven't had a metal REO since the very first mini was sold but its time for me to get one of these.

I never use on off switches myself I wear lose clothing and I usually have a shirt with a pocket in it

I was one of the lucky guys, who was capable ti burn a hole into the pocket of my winter jacket. Sitting down in the city train was enough to push the button. A long time. A very long time. The bottom switch was not soooooo easily to use.

My two cents on the button. I think the button should have a nice soft tactile feel. It shoudld be side mounted as well. The button should be recessed so as not to turn on easily when placed in a pocket. I believe its essential that it comes in two versions. ...a male version and a female version as people might have trouble with it only one were offered. I've done a mockup for Rob that might be helpful. What say you?

After dealing with a couple shady machine shops I finally found one that does good work .I wasn't ready for the reo craze when it first happened .
