Ever get the feeling, your'e in a dark room with a bright light shining directly in the face? What day did it have no taste ...LMAO!!! Gimme a break!!!

I had/have some pretty simple questions regarding the nic. Feel free to answer them, honestly. I, like many others do not like wasting money. Assuming I can verify it is 99.9% usp, I will provide the info, pick up some nic and give my impressions on it. Thanks.

Anyone that is concerned abou color change with nic may want to read the thread about it by two very reputable chemists here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/86000-word-about-nicotine-purity-storage.html

This is the first post

A word about nicotine purity/storage

Much is made of trying to find the optimal storage conditions for nicotine concentrates to be diluted into working eliquids. Similarly, much is also made of finding concentrates with good pure nicotine.

These are good things, but ultimately, I wonder how much they really matter.

Consider this image from Exogenesis. This is from his vapor trapping experiments where he set up an apparatus to auto-vape e-liquid and electrostatically condense the vapor for nicotine determination:

On the left, you see eliquid made from pharma grade nicotine. On the right you see the same liquid after it's been atomized and condensed.

No matter how well we source and store the stuff, the stuff on right is what we're vaping, not the stuff on the left. After all, the last thing we do before we inhale our precious liquid is heat it up aggressively in a stream of air containing about 20% oxygen.

I'm not out to make a big deal about this inescapable fact of vaping, but it's at least something to consider when we might be tempted to worry excessively about our concentrates getting a slight yellow/brown tinge.

I don't buy this,,, that's like saying we all eat ketchup, but we can eat the ketchup that we purchased this week or the bottle that's been open for 3 months,,,, I want to eat the fresh ketchup Salem

I've been DIY'ing for almost 3yrs now, the better Nic's I have always gotten where clean looking, the extraction process and Lab work , along with just an extra clear and no harsh or bad smells, and those vendors, Levy, Randy, and only 1-2 other always have a high grade it seems so I've stuck with them, I would bet VZ's Nic is coming from one of these guys or direct from China then sourced to a lab in the states then back to them.

Also these people can say what they want but, Oxygen getting at the Nic is not good guys,, and it thrives in the very cold. Look I have Nic that I have had in the test process for just over 2 yrs now, putting it in the deep freezer, in a glass bottles, filled up to the top so no air gets in,, and sealing that bottle top. It's the best way to store it in my opinion, only my opinion for what its worth, all you have to do is try this. I have the proof here at my home, the stuff left out has turned a dark golden brown and smells really bad, the freezer stored is still in great shape. Try it, that's all Im saying try it, I only keep out a small amount, then keep my small bottle that I currently use in the freezer, I take out what I need, then right back in the deep freezer, the bigger bottles I dont touch accpet when I have to ad to the smaller bottle,It all stays in that deep freezer filled to the top in the bigger bottles as much as I can, and in that freezer in a blue glass bottles.

Ask Levy, Ask Randy, ask our ECF Chemist Kurt,, the guys will tell you the same thing and its how I learned from Levy, Curt, and even Randy has said put it right in the freezer. Madvapes is also doing a Nic test,, first bottle that has dropped in it's MG = Bottle left out on the window sill :)

Edit: but in the end I would rather have fresh all day long

Most vendors wont say where they get there Nic, but if you do some snooping around you know its probably coming from one of 2-3 places, and that's either China, then sent to another lab here in the states for lab work, or its purchased wholesale from another Large Nic Vendor here in the states.

Not sure what you are saying, Matt. My only point was to make sure that new vapers reading this know that color change of nicotine is completely normal and it is safe to vape. Normal nicotine indeed should change color (unless kept in the freezer) with time is my only point. I trust the opinion and expertise of Kurt on the matter.

BTW- I sampled VZ nic. It was not bad but I did detect a slight odor and taste. That is just how it tasted to me. It did not make it bad and I had no problem using it.

Salem, was it up to snuff with are other pals Nic ? be honest, sounds like it wasnt as good by your quote, but there are numerous factors that could make it just a tad different too.

Since you brought it up....

I bought 2 different bottles of so called usa nic in last year and both turned a dark shade of yellow in about 30 days

Again, I refer to Kurt here

Coloration of unflavored nic juice is primarily from oxidation of nic to nicotine-N-oxide, which is yellow/brown. It takes almost zero amounts of this to yellow a nic juice. I have seen the pink color too, but strangely (or not) it has only been from low-nic unflavored I have made with VG.

Right, well clearly it's the oxygen, and why storing it in the deep freeze in a full bottle and sealed is by far the best way for us to store it, we dont have the elaborate cold stuff and set up to keep it any colder then our freezers. Either way Deep freeze it guys Deep freeze it.
