For reasons I won't post here, this story caught my attention (if you search on ECF you can find out why). Read and watch the video.

As suggested I am adding the author's email address here, because they have removed it from the top of the article: lstromme@toledonewsnow.com

And here are 3 others that Stosh provided in another thread:

What concerns me most about this story is this, "Some manufacturers claim that e-cigarettes are a safe solution to tobacco cigarettes. We took a look inside one which retails around $50-70 and found it's made up of water, alcohol, nicotine, a host of other chemicals including Diethylene Glycol. Diethylene Glycol is a chemical used in anti-freeze."

The implication here is that they actually tested some liquid and found diethylene glycol. That would be quite big news as that has, to my knowledge, never been seen in liquid since the 2009 FDA report, and then only in low levels in 1 out of 18 samples tested. I want to know if they actually tested a liquid. I highly suspect that they didn't, and either mistakenly said diethylene glycol instead of propylene glycol or they took that information from the FDA report.

Apparently the news story has had some serious repercussions for the business owners of the store featured in the story.

Good find, Spazmelda. I just spent a very enjoyable half hour writing an email to the author of the article. Afraid I got rather snarky towards the end, but it certainly was a satisfying experience...

FYI, here's the lowdown on Matt Roth, the Promedica doctor quoted in the article:

Matt Roth, MD
Associate Medical Director
Education: Miami University of Ohio, The Ohio State University College of Medicine
Graduate Medical Education: The Toledo Hospital Family Medicine Residency and Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship
Affiliations: Associate medical director, Sports Care®; Arrowhead Family Practice; board-certified in CAQ Sports Medicine
Team Physician: The Toledo Walleye, The University of Toledo

BREAKING NEWS! THIS JUST IN! A specialty in sports medicine now qualifies you to offer expert opinion on e-cigarettes! Whoda thunk it...

With 'combined' turn overs running now at 'billions' in the 'industry-when are we going to see 'litigations' begin ?..........

I'd be looking for a lab report to back up this libellis claim regarding the 'contents' found.

(I would also like to see many more vendors appear more openly pro active in general)

I don't know how it would work out, because I don't think they ever actually said the juice was from that store. It was implied, maybe not intentionally, maybe intentionally. I doubt they had any liquid tested though.

If the insinuation wasn't intentional, then it was an act of incompetence to print it as-is.

I can't help but think he was one of the ones involved in trying to ban nicotine from the Olympics due to the unfair edge nicotine users receive, ie, focus, calmness, etc

Oh, here's one thing they did, they removed the author's email address from the top of the article and replaced it with a generic address. Here's the author's address in case anyone is still writing: lstromme@toledonewsnow.com

LOL, cowards. Would you mind terribly updating the OP to include the email addresses?

Not only did they remove the email address, they removed the writer's name! The article is now by "WTOL staff".... Are they sharing the blame, or spreading the joy...?

Am I the only person that questions the FDA's "study" that found diethylene glycol in that 1 single cartridge from 5 years ago?

Seriously? If I were trying to ban something and were as powerful as some of the people involved and none of the test results were coming out in my favor, How hard would it have been to fake the results or even slip a little diethylene glycol into one of the samples?
