I am glad to be able to help! I only hope I can make a difference with my small contribution to this HUGE campaign.
It looks like the interview may be off for today. I have not heard from the reporter yet this morning. It is snowing BIG time here! It is supposed to get bad. But, I am using the time to find and print off more info. (I am going thru a BUNCH of printer paper LOL) I cant help it! I keep finding more good stuff! This really allows me to see through all the talk that "there is not any information on these Ecigs!". What a load of crap!

While it is good for you to have as much info for them as possible, be sure and keep the interview personal. YOUR story is what needs to be told, interspersed with some hard hitting facts. Congrats on this opportunity.

The way you handled this story makes me think differently about how you present other stories.

Gary: That one line right there is , imo, the most succinctly brilliant part of your entire response. In fact, I will steal it in the future when I write letters of complaint because it hits the nail right on the head when it comes to calling out shoddy cut and paste articles disguised as 'journalism'.

Thanks, Crumpet. We all need to call the media when we see or hear something that does not sit right and let them know how we feel about their reporting. Keep them on their toes so to speak. If we blindly sit back and accept whatever they say as gospel (which many do) then their job is easier - they don't have to work as hard. I say make them work and prove that they are doing the hard part of digging and finding truth. No bias, just the facts!

Yes, by all means, use what you want. That feeling (about shoddy reporting) is not exclusive to me, I am sure. LOL Glad you can use it.

Well, the reporter was supposed to get in touch with me yesterday but I heard nothing from her......
I was here all day too. Had my materials at hand and had gone over what I was going to say. Today I have the meeting with my representative at 3PM. I have things ready for that as well. being late in the day, I am hoping is a good sign that he is giving me unlimited time. I was not told how long he had set aside for me.

I had told the reporter that I have the meeting today so maybe i wont hear from her. Hopefully next week.

Not too long after I did the last post here, the reporter called me. She is going to get back in touch with me on monday she said. They had her doing a story in court in Owego today so she could not come.

On another note, the meeting with my assemblyman went good! I talked with him for over an hour and he wanted most of the material that I had printed up. He is interested because he had already gotten a copy of the bill to read. He said he was impressed with my email and that is why he wanted to talk with me. I showed him my ecig and told him how it worked. Gave him my story again that I have not had a cigarette since buying the ecig and that nothing else had worked for me (same as I had sent in the email). He said he wanted the info so he could go over it with some other reps. I got the feeling he is not a fan of the (ahem) woman who sponsored the bill.

He did not let on how he was going to vote but he sounded like he liked what I had to say and show him. I think he plans on going over the material this weekend. I feel good about how it went.

Now on to my senator! :D

OK, the interview was today. I think it went VERY well. She was here for about an hour. Filmed me most of that time.

I told my story and answered her questions. Her questions allowed me to present much good information. She took some things I printed for her too. I gave her a copy of the CASAA position statement. Also an article on the Boston university study. I did not have a lot printed (my printer ran out of ink!!!!!). LOL

She even recorded me doing one of the songs I perform on guitar (When You Say Nothing at all).

She did not say when the story will air. So, if anyone has Time Warner Cable, watch for it on YNN. I do not subscribe to cable TV anymore (could not justify the cost anymore). Also, the video may be on YNN.com when they air it. I hope they do not edit it down to nothing.......
