Every sight and here preaches battery safety unfortunately we live in fear if its brought to light some do gooder will have more ammunition to impose bands on ecigs. I think transparency is the best policy. I would rather know my Battery could explode or go thermal so I can take precautions and each time we here that it happens we know its a real to be aware of. I also wonder what is more likely to cause trouble Ego style or regular battery looking type. Also name brands such as AW TF Panasonic verses generics you get when you order a mod?

I was looking at an R/C site that sells these and am thinking of picking one up or something similar. The battery conditioning and discharge capability are very nice features. The description for the Accucell 6 says that the power supply is not included; what is the type power supply needed? A type of wall wart?

I just bought a cheap ... think it was an HDTV power supply (has the same kind of connectors you find on laptops and what not). 12v 6amps. Might be able to find it on the same site that sells the charger.

You can find battery holders on the cheap at focalprice (they have more than singles). http://www.focalprice.com/EB340B/37V_Single_18650_Battery_Holder_Black.html#.ULpuH6zAePs

If you want to charge more than one at a time, I recommend buying a 6cell balancer extension to rig up to your holders. I wouldn't charge more than one without balancing.

Right. I find it a little disconcerting that vendors sell these types of batteries without chargers and without a recommendation of the type of charger that should be used with them.

Spot on tech dude.

Thinking about it, this is something that many people, even some of the more experienced vapors have forgotten. Most know not to charge a 510 battery on an eGo charger. The eGo mini has about the same mAh rating as a 510 mega. So the eGo mini should be charged on a 510 charger, rather than a eGo charger.

Glad the OP is ok. Im getting a little nervous from hearing about exploding batteries even when its due to user error,...but it isnt always.
This is concerning, the place that I purchased my mini ego's from (and other places that Ive seen) said to use the standard 420mah ego charger even for the 350mah mini's, but Ive also seen some places state specifically NOT to use the 420mah charger but a 200mah charger. There are different brands such as smoktech, vision, apoloe, others ranging from 350-450mah, so I dont know if all that makes a difference but I have to wonder whos right being that I know absolutely nothing about batteries/chargers ect.
It seems as though the 200mah 510 would be safer, I have chargers coming out of my ears but I can add another one.

I have to ask as this has been normal for me but I dont know if its actually normal, is it normal for chargers to get kind of warm when in use? I know its not when the batt does but Ive had that happen too.

Ive been getting a lot of defective batteries lately of all types so Im a little skidish..

That depends on what 'kind of warm' means. Chargers will get slightly warm to the touch - there is some power loss within the circuitry that is producing the charging energy, but not so much that you can't touch it. You didn't say if the 'lots of defective batteries lately' are used in this same charger - maybe the charger is not performing correctly.

Ya, my ego chargers get warm to the touch but not hot by any means, thanks for clarifying.

The bad batteries Ive been getting lately have been of different models and used with their own chargers, not the ego charger. I was just just speaking of the general concern for battery safety when any model comes to you DOA or defective even before you have a chance to mess it up in the wrong chargers. Just wishing for more consistancy.

I had an AW IMR battery go out on me... Had it in my pocket, and all of a sudden it just became incredibly hot, to the point where I could only just barely get it out of my pocket. Burnt my finger while doing so.

Bloody good that I did get it out of my pants pocket...

Just wondering did you have keys/ change etc in pocket, could have been the reason it shorted.
