@RIMP

LOL, nah I just forgot to add smileys and whatnot. :D

:thumbs:

@SOHCking

I'm assuming that when he said 'reaming out' david meant existing units, but reaming the interiors to accomodate for the larger protected batteries. But don't quote me on that. Though I'd really like to know what David has planned in terms of the protected batteries.

I still want mine too! The only reason I got a little if'y is because when I saw this thread I thought he was going to start making the super-six differently to prevent the use of two cr2's. I personally do not want a "revised to fit protected cr2's" unit. That would make the unit even bigger! I have no problem using the ultrafire cr2's and the entire reason I'm purchasing this unit revolves around it's size.

Anyone who doesn't want their S6 order anymore please let me know:) I would love to move up the order line:D
RIMP:evil:

Don't know where you stand in the line, but David was good enough to cancel my order. I HATED asking for it but I just don't want to worry about unprotected batteries. It helps that I have an order in for the Precise and I'll be watching closely for when his big bat device comes out as well.

Thanks so much for the offer sudokuGal:) I'm happy with 3.7v and 6v I tried didn't have good flavor:)

all I have to say on this matter is .....USER ERROR , USER ERROR , USER ERROR !!!! did ANYONE read the story with the guy and his exploding GG? if you didnt he says he felt the mod get hot and still kept vaping....USER ERROR ! and from the looks of it I will bet that this Detonater mod that blew up was probly caused by the guy not turning it off before he put it in his pocket. but he cant remember if it was on or off...Hmmmm ? I think also...USER ERROR !!!!

I AM still using CR2s in my S6 and will continue to do so :)

my 2 cents, T

I've found that some juices taste better at 3.7 volts and some at 6 volts. That's why I can't wait for my super-6 because the 14500 is by far my favorite 3.7 volt battery and I LOVE cr2's. Not to mention the super-6 is like the smallest 6 volt PV on the planet!

Geez the more I talk about it the more impatient I become. I want my super-6 now!!!

I am not going to cancel over this issue. I have waited too,long. However, even some designers are taking these incidents seriously. The creator of the Detonator believes it went off after he put it in his pocket. As the red button in the image seems to be on a spring, I tend to believe him. Protected batteries might have stopped that. So would a lock or a push button with more resistance, or a flashlight case to put the ugly thing in in. The GG Grant--mentioned just two posts ago--is now a discontinued product simply because of its designers fears over unprotected CR2 batteries, arranged in series. I found that out when I tried to buy one, and then asked the designer. I would still buy one of those--used, because it survived the test of fire, whatever the cause. So, have fun. Be careful. Consider restricting 6V operation to a place where you can retest the batteries after an hour or so of use. Maybe 3.7 is best for that road trip.

Man, this whole issue with the unprotected CR2s has really put me on edge.

I'd say I'm a skeptical person and I do my best not to buy in to the hype but seeing both of those stories and reading the little I have on the issues I'm not going to lie, I am very worried.

First and foremost I know that David's PV has NOTHING to do with this issue at all and everything about it seems to be perfect design wise but that being said I'm not sure I feel comfortable sticking an item that has the chance to blow up up to my face all day, every day.

I also have zero desire to use a 3.7v after vaping at 5v from 8 months ago when I quit analogs.

Is there any actual evidence that those were isolated incidences or is that just the way things are at this point with battery and e-cig tech?

Is there a way I can still use my SS at 6v without having to worry about i?

I fear most likely as soon as I get it I'm going to put it up for sale unused. I don't mind taking a loss but it is disappointing as I've been waiting on this device for a bit now.

Again though, no blame at all on David. It's just unfortunate that the batteries have failed.

No. I think there's something to it. But I don't think it's defective batteries so much or defective devices. There seems to be something about our application that is conducive to this. If it's usage, propensity for doing something improperly, sustained use (like sustained button press in pocket) or something like that.

There have been at least 4 incidents in the very recent past. While it's a VERY small sample size (number of people possibly using battery mods at 6v) it may be indicative of something other than just battery failure.

From what I can gather, using 2x3v in burst mode is very reasonable and well within the batteries operating range. So maybe it's something else? maybe mismatched cells is important (I have no clue about this stuff)? or something like that.

Again, due to the statistically insignificant sample size, it may just be the normal failure/defect rate for these batteries and the chance of one blowing up (used normally in our application) is about the same as hitting the lottery.

Thanks for this information and your point of view.

I'm still undecided but I really want this to work. I don't believe in luck but damn would I be unhappy if I was the guy who happened to have it explode in his mouth.

Would be most unpleasant.
