Was stopped by a cop today while vaping.

Well, the weather was nice out today so I decided to walk to the vape shop to pick up some more juice. On the way back, I was vaping my Kayfun V4 on my mech mod, listening to music and enjoying the weather when I saw a cop car drive by me, then drive back the other way down the street, then finally come up and stop right next to me and roll the window down. Considering I was just minding my own business, I wasn't quite sure why she stopped me.

Anyways, she asked to see my Kayfun and after handing it over, she asked if it was a ......... pipe. I explained to her it was an e-cigarette (even though I don't really like calling it that) and showed her my bottle of juice. She seemed genuinely interested and curious about it and asked me how it worked. I also showed her my IPV Mini that I had on me and she finally explained that she stopped me because she thought I was smoking a ......... pipe. She was extremely friendly the whole time and didn't give me any trouble.

Just thought it was an interesting event and wanted to share, and maybe serve as a warning in case you don't get as lucky as me and get stopped by a cop looking to make trouble. I will probably try and vape out in the open a bit more discreetly from now on.

It probably didn't help that my tank looks like this:

I have been purposely trying to get ones attention after reading threads like this. The other day I had one right next to me at a light and had my car looking like Snoop Dogg was riding with me and nothing.

Guess even in small town Texas the cops know what's up.

Awesome! The Chief of Police invited me to have a few beers at his shop for new year's eve. We all sat around the fire a while BSing. Everyone broke out the cigs for a smoke...I grabbed a volt 65, and said, "I guess i'm the odd man out here, I got a fancy Electronic cigarette!" Everyone was fascinated by it. The Chief, his wife, and his cousin are all vaping now, and smoking way less! I am still very new to vaping, but it feels so good to teach others about it..and get em vapin!!

I worry about this all the time. So far my family and friends have all had that same reaction, that it looks like other stuff equipment. If everyone I know thinks that's what it looks like, than the masses must, too. Other people might think its funny, but I'll be embarrassed.

To get to my work, i'm immediately stopped by a set of traffic lights as i turn out of my subdivision. These lights are the ones that change once every ten minutes - let 3 cars thru....

I'm always late, so i'm running thru a checklist hoping i don't have to turn around. It's a holy trinity thing: phone - vape - wallet. check.

It's a 2 lane road and the police turn left to go to the police station, so quite often we are side by side. It's about then that i realise HRH last used the car and so everything is wrong.
The radio is tuned to some pathetic soul channel; the driver's seat has been moved and lifted 9 inches higher. The inside mirror is pointed directly at me, and the outside ones are owl-hunting.

So i have a vape and as quickly as i can, try to remedy all the above.

What the policeman next to me sees is a man struggling frantically in a car, with arms flying all over the place, head on the inside roof as he's asphyxiated by a cloud of fog.

It's a wonder i'm not stopped more!

Used to get it a lot but the joy of a small town you get to know all the local bobbies and once I explained it to a couple of them they all seemed to know and when I was stopped it was all very polite and jovial.

Police departments should be educated on things like this. Thankfully we don't see a lot of ignorant backlash from the police but it is most definitely possible, from Po'dunk USA to Main Street.

I certainly don't blow it in anyone's face but we have to be ambassadors to the community. People are scared of new and strange things, even police, and typically when you scare the police things go poorly. I do my best to vape as openly and casually as possible, without being "that guy" blowing clouds into some soccer mom's face at the mall.

WE have to normalize the behavior to make sure that it becomes or continues to be socially acceptable.

The exact same thing happened to me. Except I pulled out my new nickel Beretta 85FS and said "Look how shiny!" I'll tell you, you don't ever want to get hit with Mace, 2 stun guns and a shot gun bean bag to the groin all at once.
