Police departments should be educated on things like this. Thankfully we don't see a lot of ignorant backlash from the police but it is most definitely possible, from Po'dunk USA to Main Street.

I certainly don't blow it in anyone's face but we have to be ambassadors to the community. People are scared of new and strange things, even police, and typically when you scare the police things go poorly. I do my best to vape as openly and casually as possible, without being "that guy" blowing clouds into some soccer mom's face at the mall.

WE have to normalize the behavior to make sure that it becomes or continues to be socially acceptable.

Completely agree! I vape my face off thru every parking lot of every store we go to; then I put it away as I walk in. Then as I'm approaching the doors to leave, I pull it again. What little reaction it's gotten has been 99% positive; mostly interest and does it really work, is it as good as a cigarette, etc. Had one woman scowl at me in the Walmart parking lot; not sure if it was the vaping or just her general attitude. One chick very ostentatiously moved from one side of the doors to the other, while I was vaping up a strawberry scented cloud outside Target. Maybe she's a fruit nazi. :D

(mods feel free to move this)

Well, the weather was nice out today so I decided to walk to the vape shop to pick up some more juice. On the way back, I was vaping my Kayfun V4 on my mech mod, listening to music and enjoying the weather when I saw a cop car drive by me, then drive back the other way down the street, then finally come up and stop right next to me and roll the window down. Considering I was just minding my own business, I wasn't quite sure why she stopped me.

Anyways, she asked to see my Kayfun and after handing it over, she asked if it was a ......... pipe. I explained to her it was an e-cigarette (even though I don't really like calling it that) and showed her my bottle of juice. She seemed genuinely interested and curious about it and asked me how it worked. I also showed her my IPV Mini that I had on me and she finally explained that she stopped me because she thought I was smoking a ......... pipe. She was extremely friendly the whole time and didn't give me any trouble.

Just thought it was an interesting event and wanted to share, and maybe serve as a warning in case you don't get as lucky as me and get stopped by a cop looking to make trouble. I will probably try and vape out in the open a bit more discreetly from now on.

It probably didn't help that my tank looks like this:

sometimes I feel the filtering here is a bit over dramatic, is (OTHER STUFF) filtered? im spacing this to ask this question, only word I could think of that matched pipe in that sentence

was just stopped yesterday by a cop, and while they were talking i pulled out my istick and started vaping in his face. he didnt say anything untill around the 4-5 drag, "is that what i think it is?" , i was "yeah, its an ecig" and blew it in his face. no reaction whatsoever. just kept askin questions about the incident that happened and why they were called.

you're lucky you didn't do that to this cop

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8LyMwBzpkI

but honestly, I wouldn't blow my vapor in anyones face unless I didn't like them or they got in my line of fire say standing on a sidewalk loitering/standing against the building ;D

Did the same thing in our little town here in Florida....no reaction whatsoever
Not surprised with no reaction in a small town where everyone knows everyone (or it seems that way). Larger cities on the other hand you can probably expect to be stopped or at least have them watching you.

I guess they're too busy doing this to worry about me vaping.

Better that than worrying about vaping, infringing on rights, intimidating the peons, shooting dogs, etc...

In a completely different direction and one that is totally off topic I recently read an article about how the Christmas "Elf on the Shelf" is potentially preparing children for a police state. Sounds ludicrous but the point was presented so well I said "Hmmm, that damn elf, I knew no good could come it him!"

I got asked that once, I asked him if he had any reason to assume it is, he said it was "just a question", I told him to have a nice day.
Imo, that's a pretty good reply, depending on how it was asked. If a cop asked me in a cocky, "looking for a reason to arrest me" sorta way, then I'd reply about the same. If it's a genuinely curious question as to what it is, I'd take a minute or two and explain it to them.

I flew to Detroit to Atlanta and back over Christmas. My bag was searched both ways because the vaping stuff was unfamiliar on the scanners. I think the guy was annoyed that I had to explain what things were. They were a bit creeped out by the little bottles of liquid that didn't have commercial labels. An Egrip, now there's a strange one. They also spend some time checking out a silver IVP 2s with Atlantis tank on top.

You are looking at it the wrong way. You just educated an officer. Good for you!! :)

I feel like I got lucky with how nice that cop was. I didn't mind ex plaining how it worked to her because she was non-confrontational. I'm just kind of nervous that someone not so nice will stop me and give me problems, which is why I want to keep it more discreet from now on.

It was referred to as a (OTHER STUFF) pipe actually.

Sorry! I was just trying to clear up what it was mistaken as, but I guess that wasn't an important part of the story.

I have been purposely trying to get ones attention after reading threads like this. The other day I had one right next to me at a light and had my car looking like Snoop Dogg was riding with me and nothing. :(

Guess even in small town Texas the cops know what's up. :p

I know, right? I try to get pulled over. Not even a glance.

I had the same sort of thing happen. I was just walking and vaping and a police car (the same one) kept going by me. After about the fourth time, they finally stopped in a turn lane and waited til I walked by. Its broad daylight. What did they think I was doing? I would have been nice if they had questioned me of course. (I"m a nice person) It was a warm day, maybe they thought I would pass out or something with all the vapor. I don't know but if it had been 10 degrees hotter. . . I would have spoke to them first.

Being a newbie to this stuff I wondered about the cop issue. I got my new MVP20w w/ the Aspire mini yesterday. We all loaded up in the car and headed off to WallyWorld. Of course I proudly toted along my new gear puffing away like Snoop Dog. After we finished shopping we headed home. A cop was beside me in the next lane and I'm sure he saw me blowing big clouds. When the light turned he fell in behind me and I thought for sure he was going to pull me over but he didn't. My wife was freaking out though. She wasn't worried about the fact her 13 yr old was dry firing his realistic looking AK47 at all the pedestrians passing by. Noooo, she was freaking out about my Vapor. :)
