Was vaping all it was cracked up to be?

"Is vaping all that I thought it would be"??
No.
My ecig experience has been similar to the way initial infatuation, turns to disappointment, and then finally levels out to a mature love (i.e.- realistic expectations of who the loved one is and what his limits are).
My first 901 ecig was fantastic right out of the box, and the liquid was a flavorful dream of billowing vapor! ummmm.
Then it started - the falling out of infatuation stage.
The busted atties,
the worn out batteries after just a few weeks,
the battery that died while I was away from the house for the day.
The e-cigs that got lost, misplaced, or simply rolled under the sofa.
The black and chrome e-cigs that disappeared against my black and stainless kitchen.
The expense which was more than I had expected. Some months, I was spending so much on e-cig parts and liquid that it was the same as nasty analogues.

Finally, - the learning curve. Learning which vendors ship promptly. Learning which vendors had moderate/fair prices and good quality product. Learning that a cheap attie is no bargain if it's a cheap knock off and leaves you stranded (look for slb dse901). Learning to always have extra atties and batteries on hand.
etc.
Fall 2009, both my husband's and my 901 batteries all failed within 2 days of each other. For 3 months we were back on analogues again. Finally as new Years came closer our home/car smelled like an old ash tray, our clothes were developing burn holes, and our cigarette budget was bigger than our electric bills, - we decided to start vaping Jan 1st again.

This go round, we both have the 3.7v Screw Drivers. The PC has a 901 passthrough (fabulous power), and we keep dse 901's on the side for a change or backup. The more powerful batteries on the new modifications last all day - not 3 hrs! and so far have lasted us 3 1/2 mos! When I replace them, 2 of the 900mah's will cost the price of one or 1 1/2 mini battery. And I was buying at least 2 mini batteries a month for us both. 3.7v 900mah - more and longer vapor at far less cost.
So, I'm back in love with Vaping, but I'm not euphoric like I was.
I have a mature love relationship with my mods and e-cigs now :).

Vaping has been an overall good experience for me and I'm glad I found it.

I have drastically cut the analogs that I smoke. For a period of 2 weeks I smoked no cigs at all, and then sort of fell off the wagon. At this point I am smoking about 3 cigs a day, which is terrific since I have smoked over a pack a day for many, many years. The problem for me at this point is that I have not yet found my perfect all day vape. I am really searching for it, and spending lots of money in this quest:D I believe that when I do find it I will have no problem again giving up cigs completely.

Vaping exceeded my expectations, in that; I initially thought e-cigs were more of a novelty than a true activity.

After my limited research in the beginning, I realized vaping was going to be different than smoking and that there was going to be a learning curve. I was also willing to do a little DIY and adjust to give vaping a fair shake. Vaping did not disappoint after that.

I think vaping is great and I'm glad I found it. But I also think that it's not quite as easy as "buy a pack of smokes, light it, and go". Knowing the difference makes all the difference (that sounds funny when I re-read that to myself). With a little effort/foresight, vaping is easily more enjoyable than smoking. I have noticed that chain vaping doesn't make me feel like crap, as opposed to smoking 3 or 4 analogs one after another.

I'm wondering if people, now that they've tried vaping, are finding that it's all that it's cracked up to be? Is the experience what you were expecting before you started?

For me, it isn't what I expected, it's far better. I knew really nothing about e-cigs before placing my first order for a cheap knockoff, all I knew is that I wanted something, anything to try and help keep me away from cigarettes. Then I found this place and ordered a 510. It didn't perform too well the first week, just small, wispy clouds of vapour but I was still happy and satisfied. Then, in week 2, it really started working and I'm getting great big clouds of vapour. I have no want whatsoever for a real cigarette anymore, vaping gives me everything that smoking did, and more.

Curious about what other people's experiences are. Has vaping lived up to your expectations?

That is almost dittos for me!!!!!

Vapeing has far exeeded my expectations, just under a month smoke free and cant even stand the smell of an analog let alone the taste. Beyond the action of actually vapeing the community that has been built, the support, the fellowship. You need help someone is always there to offer it. So to answer the question "Was vapeing what it cracked up to be?" I wouldnt go back to analog if you paid me, and I sure to hell woudnt EVER stop vapeing

I have to say that vapeing has lived up to my expectations and they were pretty high after reading these forums for a month before buying my first ecig. I was also very intimidated from reading the forums and trying to absorb all the info. My first purchase was a Toker1 from Vapor Tokers and this thing is great, but im sad to say that I haven't quit smoking totally yet, I went from a pack a day down to 3 and if im drinking it goes up to 6 cigarettes. Im still testing out different juices and am looking forward to stop smoking all together.

For the first few weeks, it absolutely lived up to my expectations, which surprised me. However, eventually my atty's died I assume because of a lack of maintenance .. and the new one I ordered from AltSmoke came DOA, so I've got to send that pack for another.. so alas, I am back to analogs. But I will be making the switch again here soon.

When it's working at near 100%, I can absolutely make the switch from analogs to the e-cig, which I never thought would happen.
