I have to say its almost always user error - except when it isn't
Some attys are just crap - thats the nature of things unfortunately - ever had a car that was a lemon from day 1? How about a vacuum that sucks so bad it blows? I've had stuff I've bought that really let me down from the get-go - kind of puts you off the whole product from that company - or even the item itself (we've all been there I'm sure). My bete noir is toasters - I can never find one that toasts evenly, or its too small or it doesn't take buns..yeah...toasters...
And then there's the item that just won't work, untiil you find out there was a switch you were supposed to press, or a plug you had plugged in, or you didn't read the instructions cover to cover and missed a vital point (oh thats me lol).
The main problem is not KNOWING if its you or it thats at fault. I think thats likely why you've felt so frustrated (as would we all, I'm sure) but hey..by the end of all this you should be an EXPERT of the functioning of a 510 right? :D

There was another newbie that posted trying to help,Dunlap, she mentioned the kr8 That she just purchased because she had a hard time with the 510.It was a good try at helping and I simply didnt want your Kr8 idiot comment to discourage her.I think everyone should find whatever will work for them and be happy.

I'm replying to this off thread in PM..

Jay your VERY right in everything you just said :) Ive got a thing with toasters too, those things NEVER heat evenly!

Anyways, yea after this little foray, I will be an expert at 510 atty's! Thats a great way to look at the bright side!

Im just VERY VERY happy this thing is working up to snuff again, and its just bad luck that my first experience was with bad equipment. Its cool though, Ive got backups on their way!

I am getting really frustrated here! I can only get decent vapor and throat hit like 10% of the time with my 510...

My dad ordered one because he saw mine and he wants to quit too. He got it last Friday and I was able to try his today and OMG, HUGE throat hit and CLOUDS of vapor... That really ...... me off as I have to drag for like 6 seconds to get just a little vapor and a slight resemblance of throat hit...

My atty cant be dead, its only been 8 days.... plus, mine NEVER vaped like my dad's....

I dont know whats wrong, but all I do is tinker with this thing ALL DAY... analogs are much easier than this...

Any help would be awesome. Im so close to goin to the gas station and gettin a pack of camels

Get a HV, or a 5V like the Prodigy V2 or any other HV PV. You will never go back.

lol you'll get that though jim..the HV camp will come along and drop their get a 5V..it's inevitable, no matter how much you say you plan to and doesnt help with the original issue...
Glad to hear that your atty is working well for you now though..

my turn for a suggestion...for work though..if you find that you're liking the 510..you'll probably experience some battery life complaints...take a look at the eGo (janty) or tornado (TW) it's a 510 on steroids so you can use your 510 parts on it but the battery lasts pretty much all day..and it's slim and sleek (kinda feels like a stubby cigar in the hand)..it's still stock 510 voltage..but because of the bigger battery (same length as the 510 just bigger around) it doesnt get that vapor drop off as soon as your 510 does (you'll notice it the more you use the 510, if you don't already)

Hey Jim, definitely do not throw that first atty away! I'm sitting here puffing on an atty that I've used daily for over a month now. And it had ALL of the problems you mention in the beginning. Now it works great and blows out plumes of vapor. For me, I think it was a learning curve. I was flooding the atty and not realizing it. Let it dry out for a while and come back to it. You may be surprised!

Good call though on another starter kit, extras are a must!

Sheep, thats exactly what happened! I was flooding the crap out of it I think. This thing is blowing clouds once again, and Im very happy. If it wasnt for you guys here, I'd be sending it all back for a refund!

Droz, thanks for the suggestions, if I didnt just order another 510 starter kit, I'd be all over the tornado. I guess when all these batteries finally die, I'll go with the ego battery.

And yea, I have the HV bug already :) Just have to restrain myself and wait till next month. In the past 2 days Ive ordered:

30ml atomic fireball
30ml Halo Freedom
510 starter kit

So as far as the wife is concerned, Im done for the month :)

Glad everythings working out for ya jim! When i first got my 510 a few weeks ago, i almost lost hope too. it's been working like a champ for the last few days tho. I went thru 3 attys in the first 2 weeks of vaping. Then i ordered 6 more from cignot, the first one aquired a very foul burnt taste, and i pulled the fibers out from under the bridge, the burnt taste is gone, but now i can only drip with it. I primed another one of the attys from cignot a few days ago, and i'm back to vaping like a champ. The learning curve on these things are wayyyyyy more difficult then cigarettes, but its so worth it! and good choices with the juice you ordered, i'm almost done with my Halo NewPure i ordered 2 weeks ago, it's some awesome juice! and i also ordered some atomic fireball on saturday! can't wait for that to get here!!!!!!!!!!

Sweet man, Im looking forward to getting these juices too! My atomic shipped today, so maybe, just maybe I'll have it by Saturday. Not sure when the Halo is getting shipped, but Im the most excited for that one! Ive heard great things about both those juices!

Kinda worried about cignot's atties. Seems a lot of people are getting that nasty taste. My dad just got a PV from them, and his hits like a champion, so we wil see what happens!

Im just really glad this original atomizer is hitting HARD! Makes me happy :)

I really wonder about the long term effects of these PV's. I will probably quit altogether in a year..... just cuz Im not so sure its all that safe.

But for now......... VAPE ON!!!

As for the mods, in most cases a mod even at 3.7v will provide a better vape then the standard 510 batteries. The standard 510 batteries have a documented voltage drop under load. They're supposed to be 3.7v but are generally seen to run around 3.1v under load. The mods don't do this and stay fairly consistent at 3.7v give or take ~.4v based on the carge level of the battery.

If you're comfortable with a drill and a soldering iron I'd suggest the DIY nicostick. It's like $7 in parts and $15 for two 14500 batteries + a charger. Gives a pretty compact and durable 3.7v mod. Also a good platform if you ever want a 5v mod. If not so comfortable building your own, I've seen someone selling them in the classifieds for $27 and the Bartleby (I may have misspelled that) looks like a swa.nky box for $50. It's the same size but has integrated usb charging and status LEDs.

Anyhow, good luck! Hope you get through the frustration period soon.

UD.

So totally right!!!

Thank you for the advice! Btw wish I could sign the petition but I'm not from the UK otherwise I'd be happy to do it.

Sorry but a little off topic so forgive me but can someone eplain "BLANK" cartridges. I get confused....are they the empty cart that comes in kits that are hollow or are they carts with the filler inside but have no juice. I'm a noob so again forgive my ignorance.....still learning

Yea good call, dummy cart sounds better and makes more sense!

Oh speaking of the problem I was having earlier today. Ive been stuffing my carts with fluval waaaay too tight I think. I used a tiny little piece today and filled it up. After I got this atty under control, I decided to use it!

Ive been vaping a LONG time on this cart without having to top off! I guess the way you fill a cart also makes a huge difference, both in vape quality as well as atty production.

Im getting good at this!

yeah how tight you pack it affects how well it wicks..I think all my blue foam I cut to 3/8" x 1/4" x 1" ..and then I kinda snip the corners that go into the bottom of the cart

We take the atty off at night and stand it on a paper towel or kleenex with the battery end up. This allows any extra fluid to drain onto the towel. I do the same thing when I have to wash (really a hot water soak and rinse) them. I should note here that I do not wash until the draw starts to get hard. Once they are all washed I will band them all together and stand them for 24 to 48 hours. Gives them plenty of time to drain and dry. Haven't had any problems since .

My husband was going through 2 attys a month until he got a battery mod. I had much better luck and really like the 510 atty on my BB. We both use 801 attys on our SB's.
