Measuring using drops is inaccurate, because it depends on the syringe you use and so on; in other words - not all drops are equal in size!

Get yourself a calculator - a lot of people here like ejuicemeup
eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator

Have a little play with that. And use ml or drops for all your measurements - don't mix the two ;)

I have been trying to use the ejuice calculator, but it is really making me feel stupid....LOL!! So I come running back here with stupid questions everytime :D

Okay - I tried again..LOL, but I just wanted to make a bigger bottle of base nic...and it is throwing me for a loop when I go to add flavors? Does that make any sense?

If 20 drops = 1ml, you will end up at 21.8mg.

10ml x 24mg = 240.
1ml x 0mg = 0
240 / 11 = 21.818mg

Just as another example, if you had 50ml of 18mg nicotine and added 10% flavoring (5ml) it would look like this.

50ml x 18mg = 900
5ml x 0mg = 0
900 / 55 = 16.36mg

If you mixed different strengths of nicotine together, say 25ml of 36mg and 15ml of 24mg it would look like this

25ml x 36mg = 900
15ml x 24mg = 360
1260 / 40 = 31.5mg

Here's another attempt to make the math make sense.

Say you have 10 ml of 24 mg/ml nicotine. That means each mililiter of nicotine solution contains 24 mg of nicotine. Picture 24 little milligrams of nicotine floating around in 1 mililiter. Now, if you have 10 ml of that, you have 10 mililiters, each containing 24 mg of nicotine. So 10 ml x 24 mg/ml = 240 mg of nicotine floating around in those 10 ml.

Now, say you add 1 ml of flavor to those 10 ml of nicotine base. The flavor did not have any nicotine in it, so it doesn't add any nicotine, but it does add a ml of volume. So now you have 240 mg of nicotine, but it is now floating around in 11 ml of liquid. So... 240mg / 11 ml = 21.8mg/ml.

That's just a way to conceptualize what the numbers actually mean, which (IMO) helps figure out how to do the math.

Perhaps a quick example will explain it better. I buy 36mg nic liquid, because i am lazy and hate maths as you do. Let's say i make 2 bottles, each of 30ml.

My wife likes 18mg juice, so to make hers, i use 50% nic - so 15 ml. The other 15 ml is anything at all depending on how much flavour she likes and the balance is pg or vg.

I vape at 6mg, so i use 5ml of nic (the 36mg base i have divided by 6) - to get 6ml/mg. The other 25 ml is anything at all depending on .....

So you calculate your nic based on the volume of final liquid you are trying to make.

I am getting it I think...I seriously think I just need to work in smaller batches for now...LOL, I can figure those out really well - when I just try to make a big base batch, the nic level of the final bottles always gets less - my hubby just started full-time vape today, and I am afraid my juice might feel "weak" to him - LOL!!!
You wouldn't even believe what he told me to mix together...that was just scary :D Thanks so much you guys - love ya!!!

You also don't have to be deadly precise with you own juice - HRH will make a batch of liquid like you do at 18mg and then add what flavour she likes to it.

It'll end up a little less than 18mg as you see above, but not so she can tell the difference.

24mg may do the trick for your old man - i found vaping 36mg when i stopped smoking was rather hard core, but you sure got that nic buzz. Soon stepped down to 24. Good luck!

If you are atarting with 24 mg/ml, and add any amount of flavor, the nicotine is always going to get diluted.

You say that making bigger batches is confusing you, but it's not really different from the smaller batches. In your example you said 9 mg of base + 1 ml of flavor (which is 10% flavor). This would yield the same nicotine concentration as 27 ml of base and 3 ml of flavor (still 10% flavor. You could even think of it as making 3 10 ml batches, just all in the same bottle.

The only reason I was trying to make a big batch of unflavored nic mix was because my hubby likes different flavors than me - but I am finding I have to tweek his a little anyway - LOL!! He is having a little bit of snuff craving tonight after eating pizza...he is hanging in there - LOL, 36mg juice..I might have to do it for him after all - i am going to see how he does for the next couple days :D
