The First Movie I remember seeing in a theater was Lassie Come Home. Originally released in 1943, I can't remember when I went to see it...must have been sometime in the late 50's.

My favorite movies?

The Blues Brothers
Escape from New York
Death Race (The original one with David Carradine)
Lord of the Ring Trilogy
The Big Brawl
Johnny Dangerously

Lol that was not meant as an insult. Most kids at 5 aren't usually allowed to see things like George Carlin, Red Foxx, and Sam Kininson specials....

I like your grandfathers' sense of humor, we both watched the same comedians. I still own a vinyl LP album of Redd Foxx's "you gotta wash your ...". No record player, though. I followed Kinison and I think I saw him live doing stand-up, but it was the eighties, so I'm not really sure.

I recently watched the 1st episode of the 1st season of Saturday Night Live. I was fifteen back then. George Carlin is the host. Janis Ian sang "Seventeen". It had me running for the tissue box.
I saw it on Netflix instant - I highly recommend it.

He was one of a kind. He knew more about LOTR than anyone I knew, had a PHD in botany, masters in russian studies, degree in 1600 english literature, and worked for the NSA as a code breaker during WW2.... He only liked classical music, but loved comedy.

Sadly "All That" was funnier than the new SNL though Ms. Clover.....
