how about starter mechanical mods? I was looking at bolt, silverbullet, K100, KTS, The nartural, ccts? any recommendations? Wanted to get the Chi You or Caravela but they are hard to get atm.

Bolt and Silver Bullet are not mechanical... They're unregulated, big battery mods.

The K100 has been calling my name, personally.

How do you have the Gus two spots above the GP? I thought they were the same thing.... Made by partners who had a falling out.

Well I don't think that list is supposed to be in order of quality. If so the GG would be above both of them. I'm going to throw my opinion in.

1. GG
2. GG
3. GG

:D (Not saying, GG is by far the best, the rest sucks because that's obviously not true, just what I prefer!)

Are there any high end mechanical mods available anywhere? All I can find is the Gus Telescopic.

What would you guys recommend as a starter mechanical mod? I am currently eyeing the k100.
I'm no expert, but I got a K100 a couple of weeks ago and I really like it. Feels well made, looks cool, can use many different batteries, and fires every time I push the button. I would recommend it highly.

i can second that x100. I have hybrids and high end mods alike but find myself daily'ing the k100 as it feels good in the hands, relatively good on voltage drop and is a solid build. Definately a good "investment" for a cheap china clone. And compared to others is a good minimum size (especially when in 18350 or 18500 mode.)

It should be noted, that although the length may be small, the width is very wide. It's 25mm, where most 18650 mods are 20-22mm, or 23mm like the GGTS. It may be kind of bulky in the pocket, as I've always been bothered by width more than height.

I gave a thought for this.... When considering the "best", I need to focus less on taste issues and focus more on build materials, functionality, conductivity etc. etc. I would probably trade my Diablo for iHybrid LE, but just because of those last two letters and nothing else. Besides, I like the artwork very much on some iHybrids. And as for the anonized aluminum hybrids, they conduct current a little better than stainless steel - but the differences are so little, that I choose build material over the conductivity.

Battery mod 18xxx: Caravela
Battery mod 14xxx: Golden Mod
Telescopic mod 18xxx: GGTS
Telescope mod 14xxx: SturmMod v2
Hybrid: Diablo v1.1

And as for the variables:
VV: Provari v2
VW: The Darwin

Speaking as a person that has a highly sought after(Caravela) and easily attainable(Precise+) mod; the differences are minimal.

We can sit there and nitpick about them, but they are practically the same. I can take the same battery and tank, swap the mod, and i cant tell a difference. well, maybe just a bit...

My advice when picking a mod...
Go with something made with quality materials and machining, and stay away from mods where the plating/anodizing is on the threads.
Regardless of what people say, your not going to get in between those threads with sandpaper to "increase conductivity".

You get what you pay for.:vapor:
