The whole idea behind mechanicals is this:

buy a Civic or Corolla and it works. It will always work.

Buy a Rolls or Ferrari and it works, but in style.

I'm a label/hat/shoe ..... and I vape using whorish devices. Will I over-pay for something because it is made in limited numbers? Sure, if I really want it. I make good money, and I can choose to do whatever I want with it.

Bottom line: Buy a knock-off if you want...no really, it is all about NOT SMOKING. But realize, there are some/many of us that desire the nicest/most limited devices for the sake of the limited factor. I make no bones about it--if it is hard to get/luxury I will decide to get it based on daily use and versatility. I will never buy cheaper things because I choose to use my good fortune to be as exclusive as possible.

My attitude is not for everyone--and by all means, it should not be. I have very few things in life to be excited about, and grabbing that one thing that no one can get is my passion.

I kinda sit in the middle ground.

Owned much of the gear mentioned and love hybrids just not rocking any at the moment. Some interesting developments going on in the stand alone atty area.

My mech needs are currently met by a Roller, much upgraded GP PAPS, Touchwood and by my beloved little Sturm. None of them catastrophically expensive and work for my needs.

Have been though most of the Chinese devices but while they meet the basic need they lack an elegance and even functionality of my devices. No doubt my current range will move on in time but I have no plans at the moment to lose any of them.

I'm after quality, durability, functionality and what fits my vaping style. I don't have the time or really the desire to try to find the limited and unobtainable devices. I want a solid device that is all of the above and looks nice. I want a mech to try out the slr. But I'm kinda torn. I don't even know if I'll like it. If I do, I want a quality device. I've looked heavily at the Precise ELA but have ruled that out because the tapered tube makes it unstable to stand up. The maker himself said it wasn't "stand up friendly". That's a deal breaker for me. I've got enough to worry about trying to keep these mesh rbas upright without having to worry about my device falling over all the time :glare:

I'm also looking at the EA mod. It's beautiful and looks to be well machined. I'm going by madvapes tomorrow and am going to take a look at the Natural and see if they'll let me try it out. One of my rbas is set at 1.0ohms and is working awesome on the provari so I'm wondering if I even need to spend more on a mech. I know I don't "need" to but.. it's my birthday this weekend and my husband told me to get what I wanted LOL

Honestly, it's worth the wait for a really nice mod. I bided my time for my GGTS and Ody (daily/out and about) and sat for my Poldiac. I was all about my Ultra-max while dripping...Sometimes knowing what you handle is limited is amazing and makes everything you do just that much better.

Just donated my Cobra to a co-worker, let my Ultra-Maxes go for dirt (w/ AVAs).

The Reo mini is nice, but the solderless/wireless design AKA mechanical mod at that form factor is weak. I was willing to spend 50 bucks for one 14500 battery to make that work as good as a plastic wired box mod. (I carried four top of the line AW's)

I bought a Reo mini two years ago and told everyone it was the greatest thing ever. Meanwhile I'm carrying a plain old fashion ego battery in my pocket so when I flooded the atty I unscrewed it from the reo and placed on the ego and vaped the over-pumped juice off.

Didn't take long to simply cut out the Reo and drip again.

I haven't had too many complaints with it. I have a bunch of AW's, Efests, and some crappy Trustfire's. They're small batteries, yes, but it works alright to carry around in a pocket throughout the day. I actually get a full day (sometimes 2) out of a 14500 with an A7 mini RBA with a twisted 1.2ohm coil. I'm not much of a chain vaper, I vape more like someone would smoke a cigarette. A few drags here and there every hour or so, then I'll put it down.

I unfortunately bought this before the v2 came out. I'd love to get one, but all my money at the moment went into the AFPV and soon a Billet Box lol. I definitely will buy the v2 at some point though. I just love the form factor of the OG mini. The thing is tiny as hell and just works for me haha. To each his own I guess though.

I do agree that while it is mechanical and can take a beating, some form of regulation would definitely help here. Hell, I don't mind if it's regulated at 3.7v even. The big issue with 14500's is that they don't hold their charge very well (for me atleast). It'll be kicking strong from 9am to about 4pm or so, then it gets weak. Not terribly weak, but more of a "meh, I wish this was a fresh battery" weak.

Im sorry but the comparison of ferrari-corolla in mech world is non-existence, throw in a brass or copper contacts on cheaper mech and it will perform(or better) than these 200 $ mech... this thing is all about money now its not about vaping I just smh this overprice mech mods... the gus has significant drops and still cost $$ even caravela and chi yuo... if u plan to spend ur hundred of dollar from hard work earnings much better to spend it on better things. ...its my personal opinion so don't be hating... why should I spend 100-300 for a hybrid that all u have on top is Genesis rba only? Practical? No...hype? yes! Its all about trends... but seriously all we have to do is to vape and get rid of analogs but these people trying to overprice thier mech coz its hand made and etc... they r all steel no matter how hard ur steel its all in the contacts... cheers and happy vaping...but in the end it is all about personal preference :D my 2 cents ;)

In terms of a balance of desirability, aesthetics and build quality, I would go.

Vela
Mankos
JM22
GG
Chi-You

I'm talking mods only obviously, not hybrids, when you get to hybrids, there's a few really sought after things Hellfire Hybrids, Fogatti Hybrids and the like. Eventually some of them may be available in small quantities, but most of us are never gonna see those type of things.

Been in my poldiac for 2 months now. And I'm loving it. Just won a prototype poldid from the mmv lottery. Just waiting on arrival. But my eye is on a ggts now. How are you enjoying that mod?

Being as they have sold more mechanical PV's than all others combined, I would have to say the REO is still #1.

How does the Reo work...is it a bottom feeding carto?

Am I missing something? I thought "mechanical mod" = no wires and or circuit boards, people are listing mods with both.

I love my Zenesis Ash II.....

I just got the Natural mod...and it works very well looks good as well. I think the draw of the high end ones is really collecting something that is hard to get. I used a friends GG the other day and it did nothing more than what the natural does.

When I was looking for a "NICE" mechanical, I ended up deciding on the Poldiac, and then waiting until I could find one for sale...

Eventually MM Vapors got them in stock again, and I bought one straight from the vendor.

IMO, the folks who designed the Poldiac were like mega genius types... Most high end mechanicals are pretty simple, big contacts, big springs, etc... Lots of brass all over to reduce voltage drop. Not the Poldiac... The poldiac is ridiculous, no springs... Using two reverse polarity magnets to create an invisible magnetic field that forces the button away from the other back of the body. genius...

So their switch, again in my opinion, is just a marvel of engineering that makes the Poldiac stand out in a very exclusive crowd.

I don't have anything to compare it to from the "very exclusive mechanical mod" crowd, but I would also assume that the Poldiac is among the top performers in this group with regard to voltage drop... Using silver plated brass... Brass would have been enough really, but to electro plate it with 15 microns of silver is over the top.

I don't like pinky button or bottom button mods... So getting it with the button at the top, with a magnificent switch and the attention to detail over all the parts, I have to give my very biased nod to the Poldiac as being one of the very best out there...

I'd say it's built every bit as well as a Caravella, GG, Chi-You, P+, etc... It's not 100% unobtanium, they seem to come available direct from MM Vapors about once every month or two in batches. The other thing I like... No waiting lists.... They sell out, a lot... And when they get them back in stock it's first come first served... Til they sell out again.

Perhaps a waiting list a year long or more would make them a bit more desired, but I kinda like the gambling aspect of being first to pull the trigger when a new batch comes in stock... LoL

I have a Poldiac and love it ... for some reason they get less respect from some mechanical aficionados..

I guess its because the silver is so tarnishable and will wear faster; I guess 15 microns is thick? nonetheless, if I don't find a safe and easy way to keep it clean, I may end up selling it soon while I wait for my ELA's.....

ELA is rhodium plated gold (i think)the main point being that its highly conductive AND DOES NOT tarnish... period; only need to wipe it with a cloth... SuperT machining is second to none, and btw P+ are damn hard to find today, and make a FINE mechanical for a Genesis.

I make good money too and I don't think that quality built mechanicals and hybrids are superficially priced ... its like the PRovari when it first came out... lots of people screamed at the price... not only are these quality, the builders deserve to make a profit. Just because the cheapies are made in China by the boatloads doesn't mean the high end builders shouldn't make a profit too...

Also, imo there is no better vape than a Genesis ss mesh wick atomizer - or a silica wick RBA at very low resistance... conventional vaping with less expensive atomizers / cartos can not compete.
