HV attys are made to be used only for higher voltages. Usually 6-7v ranges.

They are made for this so they usually last longer than reg attys at hv.

I use HV in the range of 4.5ohms 510's and work well at 6v.

I also use 306 attys at 5v and they work well..

On my BUZZ at 4.5v I use LR 510s and it is amazingly good as well as the 306 atty which has 510 threads..

I have had good luck with the SLB 510 3.2-3.4 ohm atomizers 510 Spare Atomizer from MadVapes. These work great at 3.7, 5, and 6V and my last one just lasted me a month running at 6V. I prefer LR attys 3.7V though.

Once you use one at 5/6V it won't perform at 3.7 very well anymore but you can't use HV attys on 3.7V anyway so there's nothing different there. HV attys use the higher 4.5 ohm resistance to bring the power from 10 watts @ 6V to 8 watts (which is generally regarded as the sweet spot for heavy vaping) under the idea that it can handle the higher voltage better, again mine lasted a month. There's no real need to pay the extra money for HV attys unless you feel like your flavors are getting a burnt taste and need to step back the power.
