Happily vaping on my Phoenix 3ml BC today and all of a sudden I get the most awful dry burn. Quite a shock from what I have been accustomed to with these. After fiddling for a while and topping off the cart and priming I decided to check the resistance. Normally it was 2.6. When I checked it was 1.7. Same reading on the gripper and my pro vari. What the heck can cause this? It's just a simple coil. I figure it should either be the normal ohmage or open and dead. Can anyone explain this? I'm going to open it up and clean it and see what I can but this has me stumped.

yes i would think the coil dislodged or shorted, that can sometimes happen when filling it but not sure the actual cause, when did you pruchase this one, as this was looked into for the ones we have in stock now.

Purchased July 26th. It's only been in use around three days and not continuously. It acted up around the middle of a tank.

I cannot figure out how to clean mine, seriously. I have the sleeved version, metal cap on top and cannot get the tube off. I've pushed downward, rocking it (carefully) etc. Checked videos and cannot find where someone shows this...did I miss it? I am having the burn taste since yesterday. My liquids are clear and been using it since Sunday. Did I toast the coil?

Can't you take the drip tip off and get the plug out ? If not, I think I would fill it with hot water, just like filling with juice and then put the whole thing to soak. Mine was from the first sleeved ones and the drip tip fit into the sleeve as opposed to actually fitting into the tube.
Maybe some one with one of the newer ones can give you a better answer on how to get them apart

I'm not sure what version I have, as this is my first one. I'm worried about attempting to take the plug out and working around the metal cap, since the only thing I can grip is the fill hole, and I don't want to get it ripped or bigger and losing the seal. My drip tip fits the tube and not the sleeve. so that cover comes on and off. I did check my other one (not used yet) and has 4 airholes (vs 2 I'm using now) and it's the same. I'll give it a go as far as soaking and see if that helps, thanks!

edit: just in case...the metal cap I was referring to was not the pen cap...the metal top where the drip tip connects..and that is really stuck on there.

Stupid question coming in....How did you take out the plug from the top? The metal cap won't come off.
Apparently, as in my case, if it's still firing it may be worth trying to save.
For the top drip tip sleeve. Use the screw on cap that came with your sleeve. Does not have to be the cap. Anything with a matching thread will work. If you bought the sleeved version use the screw on cap that came with it. Screw it on tight and then rock it back and forth gently while pulling it out. Next use the same syringe tip you fill it with to remove the silicone plug. Insert the needle then kinda slant it and lift the seal out. Next remove the inner metal tube. I use a heavy paper clip with a hook bent on the end. Hook it under the top sholder and give it a tug. Most times you will need to attempt this a couple times from oposite sides before it works loose. Actually you may be better off removing the base with the tube attached and removing it later from the base assemby. Either way will work. For the base, screw it on tightly to an ego battery and get back to rockin gently and pulling apart from the tube at the same time. Some tubes are tight the first time apart, They may have used a drop of glue at the factory. I then rinse everything in hottish water. Dry everything off. Dry burn the wick. Careful not to do too much dry burning at one time or you will ruin the coil. At this point you can check the ohms if you have something to do it with. I have a gripper and a pro vari that do this. If all looks back to normal reassemble and vape away.

My sleeve is metal with a black covering. It connects the drip tip and then slides on and covers the tube. You can't put a drip tip on mine without the sleeve. From what I've been reading in the threads, that's been changed. It sounds as if the new sleeves are just a cover.

I don't have that style but VaperEd posted a pick of it in a differnt thread. Seems to me that just screwing it on an ego battery and rocking and pulling up on the sleeve should remove the top cap from the tube exposing the silicone seal. Like I said I don't actually have that style. Maybe VaperEd can confirm this.
