It was a long and sordid adventure for me. Originally, I smoked Camel alights for many years. When I moved to Germany, however, the selection of familiar American brands was extremely limited (e.g. most places only had one variety of Camels and two types of Marlboros), and they just didn't taste like the American equivalent to me. So during the time I lived there I switched to filtered Lucky Strikes. I loved them, and to me they seemed like the quintessential Americana brand.

It still astounds me that despite that, I've never even once found Lucky Strikes here. Everywhere carries unfiltered and that's it. When politicians babble on about restoring American greatness, I firmly believe the only issue they're addressing is the availability and market share of Luckys.

Towards the end of my professional smoking career, I developed a terrible and long lasting chest cold, and my girlfriend took the initiative to start purchasing menthols (which I hated entirely) because they didn't hurt as much. From then until I finally started vaping I smoked Newport 100s.

What was really interesting to me at the time is, despite ONLY smoking menthols, menthol juices just didn't appeal to me at all! Every single juice I use now tastes so completely unlike any cigs I'd favored in the past. Give me a nice sweet RY4 over a delicious Newport, Lucky, or Camel any day...I really loved those favors, but now zi can't smoke even one because to my tongue it's no longer a tobacco taste, it's an ash and tar flavor.

With all that said, if I see old fashioned Lucky Strikes for sale at a convenience store one day, I'm in trouble...

I want to answer the original question in case there might be a current smoker or two checking out the forum, and my experience might be beneficial to them. I think that my switch to American Spirit (celadon pkg w/charcoal filter) for a year after years of Virginia Slims helped tremendously with my cutting back on smoking and then in making the transition to vaping. I realized rather quickly with American Spirits that I had been much more addicted to the additives in analogs than to the nicotine itself. I simply didn't crave cigarettes nearly as much with Am Spirits and smoked much less. Changing then to vaping was very easy, and it's just plain fun. I can still enjoy the hand to mouth thing while injesting still less nicotine.

Hello, I smoked M-boro "Reds" for > 30 years, you can't expect a niquid to "duplicate" burning leaves and paper, I found RY4 varieties to make my day vaping wise, I have NO (ZERO) intention or desire to go backward. I feel SO much better, breath better, things taste great and I can smell (somewhat) again LOL

Many find they don't like tobacco niquids (my wife is among those , she smoked as long as I did) I on the other hand LOVE the tobacco niquids while I will vape some other things I always depend on tobacco (especially good RY4's including Halo Tribecco) to keep me NOT smoking stinkies YMMV

I was a Marlboro Medium guy. Then when they broke $5/pk a couple years back I went to RYO, Smokin G MUL blend with Premier Light tubes... Was spending about $0.80/pk doing that. I'm guessing that even with re-filling cartos/CE3's, vaping will cost me more than smoking. Only been at it about a week, but no more constant wheezing, no more hacking, and no more constant throat clearing. I'd say that makes up for the extra expense!

I always went with malboro lights or newport lights... menthol

I started smoking some minty flavor for my first ecig from a company my friend recommended and I cant believe it wastes so good. I feel like its going to be so easy to quit. When I first heard of electronic cigarettes I laughed but I am impressed, no wonder so many people kept telling me about this
