Interesting how they put e-cigs under "Combustion" sources right next to the real thing. We see what they did there...

Here's an oldie but a goodie:

"Formaldehyde is an important industrial chemical used to produce a wide array of materials, but it is also generated naturally by the human body."

Yep, I knew we should have named them electronic vaporizers back in 2010, but Ecigs just sounded cooler ...

I assume your comment was sarcastic in nature, but for those not familiar with the history of e-cigs it might mislead. The name "electronic cigarette" was coined in the early market due to the demographic to which the products were being marketed (smokers). It's much easier for a smoker (that hasn't heard of vaping) hearing that name for the first time to equate it with a habit they already enjoy, and hopefully to have enough interest to try the product. Also, by the time the community started to coin the phrase "vaping", the name "vaporizer" had already become popular with a very similar device that is used for another purpose (of which we can't discuss here), and it's community.

Yes, my comment was tongue in cheek. Still, the fact that we call it a cigarette has come back to haunt us with the FDA, but I agree that it's worth it to expose smokers to a safer alternative with a similar nomenclature.

My first encounter with ecigs in early 2010 was through what turned out to be an advertisement for a juice of the month club! The story was about a news reporter who did an article on ecigs and ended up quitting smoking while using them. After you read the story they hit you with an appeal to join their juice of the month club and receive a free cig-a-like to vape their juice in.

Some additional searching led me to ECF.
