What do we smell like?

After smoking for many years I can appreciate that most smokers underestimate how bad they smell to non smokers. So I was driving to a nearby town to visit my mother who has a nose like a bloodhound, I'm vaping like crazy with the windows closed and wondering "what will I smell like" when I arrive? What will my car smell like? Will I be able to "closet vape" when I visit my sisters place for Christmas?

I've only been vaping for little more than a week, and not really advertising the fact at work, if you know what I mean. Lol. One gal spent an hour trying to find the source of that delicious candy smell. Then yesterday another one comes around the corner just as I'm exhaling a big cloud of vapor. She says "is that what smells like burnt coffee in here"? So I'm wondering if you vape something that smells like burnt coffee all day, won't your clothes smell like that when you get home?

I get the candy smelling or sweet smell whenever i vape indoors, but i do get the coffee smell when i smoke caramelized cappuccino. Never heard of the burnt coffee smell. Maybe depending on what flavor coffee you smoke may omit that smell!

I'm guessing that the smell disappears very quickly unless you're vaping in an enclosed area where the vapor has nowhere to go. It must stick to clothing to some degree, but I doubt it's anything remotely close to the way tobacco smoke does. I have not noticed the smell on my clothing at all, whereas with tobacco I could smell it on my clothing constantly.

I'm not sure, but vapor doesn't seem to cling to things like cigareete smoke and generally the odors are not nearly as offensive.

Hello and welcome to ECF Sturgis! And congrats on making the switch! It was amazing for me also to discover just how much we really did underestimate the smell while we were smoking! I'm not sure what we smell like now, but I know what we don't smell like, we don't smell like a nasty stinky cigarette!!
So I am really curious, did your mother smell anything?

Actually Nan, how can I say this? I was always a closet smoker around my family. I guess they all know, but never spoken of. Lol. And my mother is 87 years old, so the subject never came up. If you know what I mean.

My ex girlfriend had a nose like a bloodhound too. She said she could smell the vapor but that it was 99% of the time a pleasant smell.

Right now like a mixture between sweat, dog, and spicy pear.

Played with the dogs, came in from a bundled up morning run, and am vaping HHV Spicy Pear.

Wife has a nose like a bloodhound and even though I mostly smoked outdoors she could still smell the tobacco in our home. She has mentioned many times how "clean and fresh" home smells when she arrives from work. Worst odor for her was the dirty ashtrays. The juice flavors she can smell when I'm vaping but they seem to dissipate very quickly unless it's a strong flavor- coffee, tobacco, menthol.

I ordered a provari which hasn't even arrived yet. But now it occurred to me that I'll be saving $60 per week by not buying nicotine gum! So I just ordered a provari mini zombie edition. God I love this. What will I do with all the money I'm saving?

With the some of the $$ I've saved I take my wife, a non smoker, out for a really nice meal every month. Small payment for her still wanting to hug and smooch this stinky old dude all those years without complaint.

I had a routine doctor's appointment 2 days ago.
He was listening my chest, so being very close to me, and asked me "Do you smoke?"
Me - "No, I don't. But why do you ask me?"
Doctor - "Your breath smells like smoking."

Doctor knows that I use e-cig so I explained to him that my DIY e-juice I am vaping at the moment has Double RY4 and Tobacco absolute and that's what he smell.

There was at list 30 minutes gap between my vaping and doctor noticing the smell.

BTW, I had my last cigarette back in April 2009.

I don't think the vapor clings to clothes like cigarette smoke does. Most of my friends & family actually encourage me to vape in their house because they enjoy the smell. Some of them make a game out of it and try to guess what flavor i'm vaping

I know what I used to smell like and can't believe I walked around like that all nonchalant thinking I was so fly but smelled like doo doo. People will actually ride in my car now. My biggest motivation is being around smokers when they come in from a smoke or ride in their cars.

I don't think we smell as strong as that. I know when I vape, people can smell the vapors.

I never could smoke in his house before, they both hate it.
plus they have a baby : )

They didn't notice the vapor smell, and had no complains
when I asked then.

For myself my sense of smell is pretty much gone after
years of smoking, although I do smell things more since
going to vaping only: seems to be a sloooow recuperating.

I had no sense of taste or smell while smoking. Thought it was caused by some ongoing sinus issues. One year after I began vaping/ quit smoking my ENT suggested that taking zinc may help repair sensory cells. Started taking 40 mg each day. After the first month I could slightly smell and taste. Now have 60% smell and taste back and no longer take the zinc. Doc figured the tobacco chems may have been damaging the sensory cells and it appears he was right.

Throw it in the bank and save it... or buy more vape gear.

At an indoor café that I frequent I was sitting with my phone reading, someone sat down at the next table about 3 feet away, and I could smell the smoke on them. Vapor has a much less pungent smell and dissipates pretty quickly. If anyone smells anything on me, it's most likely a faint hint of graham crackers or blueberries. 100x's better than ashtray.
