A few friends of mine and I were all at a bar and I was vaping away. The bartender didn't mind and thought it was pretty neat. As the night progressed (and more alcohol was consumed) I started to vape larger clouds and one of my friends called it a "portable fog machine". So sometimes I refer to it as my mini fog machine as an inside joke.

For the most part I call it my vaper.

I started by calling it an e-cig, but now I'm making an effort to call it a vape or vaporizer.

Personal Vaporizer. Yup, it's mine, and it's personal.

I call it a personal vaporizer, but if I get a look of confusion, then I follow up with "an ecig."

^^ Ditto:)
and sometimes I call it my super ego. If a quizzical look follows, and it usually does, I state, deadpan, "You know, my id wants me to smoke but my super ego won't let me..." I smile... they smile...eyebrows raised...
"......What? ........ you didn't take Psyche 101? Ok. It's an ego. It's electronic. An ego twist to be exact. It helps me feel like I'm smoking a cigarette but without the tar and thousands of chemicals in a regular cigarette......"

Sometimes a great conversation ensues!:D It depends on if they are smoking cigarettes or whatever mood they are in at the moment. I just roll with it.

Since most of us are so glad to be rid of those stinky cigarettes, I can't understand why anyone would want to identify their vape as a 'cigarette'. Like the name of this forum....keeps people thinking we're all still smokers. We just can't tell that 'cigarette' GOODBYE FOREVER. And we wonder why some are trying so hard to outlaw them?
It's just what I call it, I don't have a problem with it. To me it *is* an electronic cigarette and calling it something else seems like an unnatural affectation. If interfering busybodies want to latch onto a word to help demonize it they'll do it regardless. I'm proud of our accomplishment and make sure everybody knows the truth.

My 86-yr-old mother for whom I am caregiver lovingly refers to all my rigs as my "puffers". She's so darned happy that I don't smoke anymore that it's a term of endearment to her.

I say "rig" for some reason, but that's not very descriptive. I think "vaper" is a pretty good word. We kind of need a short and sweet term. I DO understand the issue with saying "e-cigs" or "e-cigarettes" -- folks, the demonization may occur no matter what we do, but these devices and the liquids we use in them are pretty darned FAR away from cigarettes, right? Which is the whole point? Why make it easy for them?

Everyone I work with on the oil rig calls it my crack pipe. Lol after hearing if for so long when someone asks me what I have in my hand I jokingly say it's my crack pipe

Too funny! When I do get questions about it while I'm playing poker, I almost invariably get asked about the possibility of weed being used somehow. I explain that it can be done but mine has crystal me+h in it. Gets a good laugh from everyone.
