Everyone that has seen my ecig wants one. I mean EVERYONE. And they really want one if they smoke it.

Except for some guys at my husband's job. These guys are really, how to say this nice, backwards, I guess? Anyway, they just frustrate me! Anyone else I can talk about the benefits of no carcigens(sp?) the cost, etc. but not these guys. It goes way over their head.

Some comments, "If I can't light it, I won't smoke it!" (WTH?!!!)
"If it ain't a tobacco leaf, I don't want it" (he really said "aint")
"Its a gimmick, looks like a toy"(I want to show him the screwdriver)
"why can't you buy it in cigarette stores if its the same?"(I don't think he knows how to use a computer)

and other assorted bits of wisdom. It really pisses me off that I can't answer them the way I want to where they understand!

What do you say to naysayers?

My boss is the same way. When word got around at my work about me using an ecig he said "So whats this ecig your using now? Liquid nicotine?!!! That stuff will kill you!"

This coming from a guy who has an analog smoke at least once an hour while at work and smells like an ashtray. Some people will only read a book by its cover and not do any real research.

Some people do not want to hear the truth especially the ones who may oppose ecigs in general. The ones that are against ecigs only look for things that are bad about it, or switch the facts around and make it sound bad. 'Liquid nicotine' can sound bad in a number of ways but those two words don't say anything about how the ecig uses "liquid nicotine"

Unless it's family or someone I really care about, I just let it go. I learned a long time ago that there is no point in arguing with some people. If they can't see the benefits and are going to make snide remarks, they already have their mind made up and you're probably not going to change it. Just smile, nod, and let it go. Those people aren't worth wasting your time and thoughts on.

I told one guy trying to question the safety that I'm inclined to believe that it is the tobacco lobby raising doubts about the safety of ecigs. That is usually the case anytime big business' profits are threatened

Actually, it's the big pharmaceutical companies. The e-cig is in direct competition with their smoking cessation products which don't work.

Edit: removed extremely negative comment about cancer and breeding.

... It's not that they won't listen to reason, it's that if they listen to reason they'll have to redefine their moral codex and that, to some people, is more frightening than death.

 Haha, thats what I REALLY want to say to them!!

I just don't get it though, how can they not understand the benefits of switching?!! Any way you cut it (haha) its better than tobacco.

I agree it needs a "new" name. People don't care to use patches, its like a "medicine" since you can get real medication like this. But, you don't see anything that operates like this. They don't want to see whats INSIDE the patch...and ejuice can be looked at like that.

The word "juice" is scary?

To a non-smoker, smoking juice sounds, uh. . . like drugs.

These are people who think it's the nicotine killing people.

Sorry about the misunderstanding. Don't want to be negative.

I remember my first bottle of juice- I took the lid off and sniffed it before I went to town on it. And yes, I was a little hesitant because I had never done it before. There was certainly a little trepidation on my part before I understood what was going on and before I had come here where I was educated.

First problem - and I actually did this to a friend yesterday - its not smoking ;) I refuse to call it that, since there is no smoke. I'm tasting the flavor, not huffing cans either. So, this is pretty similar, to me, to refilling a scented cartridge in a glade plug-in - there, im smelling it, and with this juice, im tasting it. :D
