I want a cig-a-like size that works like my provari and lasts a week between charges. I also want it to fill itself automatically from a reservoir of some kind.

I think that's definitely a possibility. A couple of weeks ago I saw this automatic curl making tool for hair on TV. You divide off an appropriate sized hank of hair, put it in the device as close to the root as possible and it winds it in, warms it and when you detach the device - perfectly curled hair.

The coil maker would be smaller, still plug in so you have enough power, have enough space to be pre loaded with different sized kanthal wire and have different spindles and wrap repetitions. An even more advanced model could, with loaded wicking material, put a specified amount of wick in it.

Something that makes coils obsolete. Edison-era technology is cool, but we've moved way beyond that in so many other areas. I'm thinking some sort of solid heater/tank combo that works on capillary action.
