What does everyone think of the Kanger T3 at this point?

I brought two Kanger T3. Both produce little vapor. If I take longer drags or increase the voltage, I get burned taste. Maybe mine are knock-off? Maybe I should try the T2 from another vendor and see if I can get a better luck with these Kangers.

Yeah, it sounds like you got a knock off of the T-3, there was some produced and gave them a bad name. I got a re-placement head that the wick came out of while running it under water, Don't know if they did not pull it tight enough when it was put together or not. If you feel adventurious enough you can re-build the wick and coil by watching the videos. They are a bit of a pain but it does work.

OK Now, I just finished playing around with this thing after re-wicking and re-coiling it. There was a good amount of gurgling with the new set up using the 3.5 mm wick and an overlap of 1.5 mm wick. So I took the overlap out of it and am using only the 3.5mm wick. The gurgling stopped and I am getting an increase in the vaper, and a reduction of pull on the draw.

I did find the very tinyist bit of juice on the top of the center post of the battery, but it was just the tinyist bit. I am using it on a Volt X-2 that has the sealed eGo post, so there is no problem there. When I have to re-coil it again down the road I will increase the wick to 3 pieces of the 1.5 mm wick and see if it stops the leak. I also will be looking for 1mm silica wick and try 4 layers of it. If I can not find a bead wire needle I have some heavy duty quilting thread to use in pulling it through the coil.

This time I used a 4-3 wrap with the coil, the next time I may increase it to a 5-4 wrap just being sure it is not touching the coil post. That should not screw up the resistance very much. BUT all in all, I am very happy with the tank and see no problems with it.

This is all I could find: Prestige 7 Assorted Big Eye Needles Twisted Wire Collapsible Beading Needles New | eBay

I was on You-tube watching some stuff on SS wicks and there was one video where a guy made a SS wick for his Kanger T-3 and I thought "OK, hmmm." The more I thought the less I think I like the idea. He had to re-cut the length of it because it slipped or something and touched the metal rim, shorting it out.

I don't know if it would be worth all the trouble. Has anyone tried using one?

I like the Kanger T3 BCC, though it does have shortcomings. I've tried the Smoktech Redux, the Stardust, and a Stardust knock off called the Sunrise. They're all fine, but not one of them offers the T3's simplicity of filling, cleaning and replacing parts. Also when I clean the T3's, the tanks don't seem to hold onto an unwanted flavor the way the Stardusts do with all their mophead wicks. I do look forward to better in the future, like pyrex for the tank, and a smaller, shorter, more streamlined mouthpiece. The mouthpiece is the big shortcoming. That's where the juice flavor gets muted. It feels like the vapor is coming through a train tunnel to get to me, and by the time it arrives, it's cooled off and diluted with air. Still, it doesn't rob the flavor completely, and I get plenty of vapor. Out of about ten of them I've used, only one has malfunctioned. I love, love, love how the T3 doesn't leak even when you carry it around in a tote bag or in your pocket, even when it rolls across the floor.

I have an un-lighted set like those, but did not need them, just do it in a very well lit area. The hardest part is sticking the innermost silicon thing in the bottom of the head. PURE PAIN in the ...., LOL!

I ordered some wick and Kanthal but I intend to rewick the BCC coils, not the T3. Very little room to work in the base!

After a week of use, no leaks and little gurgle so long as I don't let it get below half a tank. Changes completely then with gurgles and dry hits. I can live with keeping it topped off, given how well it works. I have cleaned it twice, replacing the flavor wicks after removing the old ones and dry burning. I do love the flavor output. I will get a glass tank one later to try cinnamon and citrus flavors. I don't plan to return to cigarettes, regardless of the FDA. Would rather switch to homemade zero nicotine than that. The T3 is about perfect for me.

After tons of playing with these things I have come to following conclsions

1. None of the 15 bases I have came with primer fluid on the wicks, this leads to tons of fiber glass shards all up in the air shaft causing your throat to hurt if you don't wash it out first.

2. Using these things relies on a combination of # of flavor wicks in relation to thickness of the juice. More flavor wicks = for thinner juice. Take too many flavor wicks out and it gurgles and leaks (worse than normal leaks)

3. I get leaking out of the bottom regardless of how it is set up, it is just a function of how thin the juice is, how many flavor wicks are there, and how long it sits. One of those factors always = a leak for me. After 5 days out of town one of my T3's had emptied itself.

4. I get leaking out of the top of these things, if I turn them upside down, they will leak. Some quicker than others. Again, thinner juice = massive leaking.

5. Replacing the flavor wicks with cotton wicking has led to less throat irritation for me. The flavor wicks that come in them just seem so darn fragile, they are dying to burst apart and fly into your throat.

6. Flavor muting is pretty intense. Almost as muted as a carto.

I can see how someone would get lucky and get just the right combination of juice & flavor wick set up and think these things are good for chain vaping. But I just completely miss why people think/thought they are great. One thing I do like for a change is the cold vape. I prefer high VG liquids and cool vape for minimal throat pain (hit).

I can understand some fiddling with a clearo but removing flavor wicks, putting them back in, trying to stop leaking, dry hits, gurgles, breaking toothpicks off into air holes, some bases not making contact with all eGo threaded devices, strong flavor muting, and all the other stuff. I just don't get it.

p.s. mine came directly from Kanger via a coop so the likelihood they are knockoffs is non-existent. Besides, I have heard people saying the Tobacc ones work just as well as the Kanger ones sooo im thinking knockoffs might not be a huge issue for those of you not digging the T3's you got from X vendor.

Sorry for the rant but no other clearo would have garnered this much attention and fiddling from me. There was just so much initial uproar that I thought eventually I would strike the right setup and thus the gold mine but I don't see it happening.

/end rant

How did you use a cotton flavor wick? Mine also come apart.

After 5 days out of town one of my T3's had emptied itself.

That happened to me once. I filled a T3, took a few puffs, then put the battery on the charger and went to bed. The next morning the empty clearo was sitting in a puddle of juice. I couldn't figure it out. Had I screwed the base on wonky? When taking it off the battery, did I accidentally unscrew the base? As an experiment, I filled it with water, screwed the base firmly on, and left it standing in an empty shot glass while I went to work. When I came home, the clearo was empty again, standing in a puddle of water in the shot glass. It turned out to be because that little silicone piece that fits right above the wick was missing. I found it on the kitchen floor later. For a part so nicely and firmly fitted on, that little silicone cap does seem to get away from you. I can't tell you how many times, after soaking a batch of clearos, when starting to put them back together, I've found that one little part, separated, rolling across the kitchen counter, or lying on the floor.

I re-wicked mine with cotton and it works flawlessly. No leaks or gurgles. Now I re-wick brand new T3's with cotton because I didn't like the idea of silica wick fragments in my vape.

I do exactly the same. At least replace the flavor wicks. I haven't replaced the main wick because I suck at fishing stuff through and I haven't felt like making my own yet. Seems they always perform better with a home built coil but I hate paying for a clearo and tearing it apart immediately.

p.s. To replace the flavor wicks with cotton just get some peaches and cream cotton yarn from walmart, boil it in distilled water and then split it in half which will give you two 2 strand pieces and lay them side by side just like the flavor wicks were.

Coil finally died on my Kanger. Used 4/40 machine screw and made a new coil. Dipped the end of 3mm silica wick in hot wax and threaded through coil and reassembled everything. The coil heat is even and it works well at 2.4ohm. First time was challenging, but it should be easier now. I've ordered some 1mm wick and a bead needle to build the next one as in the video. Plan to also try some cotton later.:toast:

Where I am
Now I only have one, and have rebuilt it twice, but it is working great. I don't use flavor wicks, and the flavor seems fine for most juices, but tends to mute delicate flavors, but I mostly drip those, and minimal leaking; the leaking only seems to happen when the juice is low. If it gets the gurgles I just shake it upside down, over the sink, to get some of the juice out. I rebuild with 3mm silica and 33 awg kanthal, 6 wraps, @ 2.5 ohms vaped at 4.2 volts. I buy my silica at The House Of Vapor for $0.35 a foot; it is by far the best I have ever used, and smaller diameter is even cheaper!

I rewicked a head with cotton and don't like it at all. I'm waiting for some silica to come by, and I'll rewick with that.

Really, disposables should be disposables. For 2.55 a head, mine have lasted over 70 days, so it's really ok with me. Buying 5 heads a month shouldn't be a real pain in the ....
