Hello! My PV experience so far is my 510 I've had for about a month, and I'm just now starting to have problems refilling carts. My first thought was finding a better filler material, so I came here and read about the straw method. Last night I was reading more and the term "wicking" kept hanging in my mind long after I left a post. So today I'm wandering around my local Walmart, looking for stir sticks (which of course my local walmart doesn't have!) and I'm still flashing back to the "wicking" thing. Before I left the store, I came up with two ideas, and I'm wondering if anyone has tried them, or if there's definite reasons why they wouldn't work.
First idea: replace the cart filler with actual wick, like the stuff used in an oil lamp. I have a couple small oil lamps at home that use a round wick about 1/8 inch diameter, so a couple strands of that around a straw would fill a cart nicely.
Second idea: replace the cart filler with the little sticks used in an oil diffuser. You know, where the sticks sit in a glass jar of smelly oil and the oil "wicks" up the length of the sticks and makes your living room smell good...I want to say it's bamboo, but can't recall right now. Maybe a couple sticks of that, with a small ball of standard filler on top to prevent leaking?
Any thoughts?
