Or, as some would have it, an advanced 'vapor'?

It seems to be a phrase used here to mean 'me and other cool people like me, unlike all those idiots who don't understand ohm's law/battery safety/mechanical mods, and who don't know how to wrap Clapton wire whole standing on one leg '.

Nobody ever spoke about 'advanced smokers' (or advanced smokors). There are kids making videos proclaiming themselves as experts after just a few months' vaping. There seems to be a certain cachet with pretending to know more than everybody else.

Don't get me wrong, it is fantastic when people share genuine knowledge. This is how I learned way back when I started.

But somewhere along the way, it seems to have been forgotten by some that this is just a safer way to get your nicotine fix. No one is 'advanced'. Some people just have a little more experience. It is not more 'advanced' to vape at very low ohms and high wattages. Just a choice.

We should all stop looking down on people who have just started vaping (patronisingly calling them 'noobs' helps no one).

And if you are fortunate enough to be able to own lots of the latest kit, it does not make you magically gifted.

Let's be a little more inclusive, shall we? It is surely the best way to help get more people off cigarettes.

An advanced vaper (to me) is someone who builds their own coils, possibly uses unregulated devices, mech mods, etc. It takes a certain level of knowledge to use these devices safely. I wouldn't have been able to do this when I began.

If you prefer to describe these individuals as "experienced", so be it.

    What advanced is not:-
It's not about using Claptons/ Alien coils/ other fancy builds.

It doesn't mean someone who vapes at high wattages/ low ohms. (Ever heard of a kayfun? ;))

It doesn't mean they own all the latest gear.

Nor does it give them the "right" to look down on others - we were all beginners once upon a time.

perhaps we should call them experienced vapors. there are a lot of people here who have been vaping for a long time and have gained a lot of knowledge about vaping. not all of then sub-ohm or chase clouds but they can still provide a lot of help to new vapers who are trying to learn.

I mainly agree accept the statement about not being able to do mech mods safely when you first started. I think you would have had no problems, at least everyone did when they were just about the only game in town. Before most regulated mods were even around, most learned on mechs and everyone was fine.

Yes, but back then 1.5Ω was considered low. ;)

When you have tanks/atties that have 0.2Ω coils as standard (the kanger dripbox atty being one) then I think that mechs are no longer suitable for beginners.

How about "special"? I tend to get called that over gifted or advanced.

Good point but I still think you would of been fine. Yes the batterys weren't of the quality of now , so most stayed in the above 1 ohm but even so, vapors seemed to make sure they knew ohms law and we're careful. No doubt though, now of days , with these crazy low resistances, the consequences are much more dangerous soo close to dead shorts.

When I first got into vaping the cigalikes (blu) I was watching so many vaping videos online to learn all I could. The ones using the eleaf 20w were experienced vapers to me. Guess it's a personal perspective kind of thing.

I think a advanced vapor is one who can build their own coils, make their own juice and knows enough to keep their attys and PV's running at optimum performance. Advanced vaper doesn't require .2ohm coils and clouds but being able to ride the wave with any ohm coil. You always can learn something new and willing to apply it to your setup but never need to walk the line to get a good vape. My first year I spent learning, 2nd year applying my knowledge to my vape with building and now the third year with DIY juice I can say I have reached my plateau and enjoying vape nirvana and riding the wave.
My only con with vaping is that I didn't learn to DIY my juice earlier and would have reached my vape nirvana sooner.

Never understood the Fear of Mechs. Got interested in trying one out. Joined a Co-op right here on ECF and purchased my first one, a Telescoping(a Disaster) along with some Genny Tanks.
Read up a bit while waiting and picked up a few IMR batteries. Kept my builds well within safe margins - 50% overhead and concentrated on getting the builds correct and consistent. Had to use my multi-meter at that time as I had nothing else to read resistance and was not leaving calculations to chance.
Today, it is all like second nature.:)

*oh, I referenced a disaster. Not my Mod, but several other Members, new to mechs, had issues.
Things like over adjusting height and dead shorting the switch. Flipped Tube not firing an 18350. Builds so low the Cheap Spring would super-heat before the coil - Hot Hand.
Yep, new toys and no instructions.

Me.........I learn to crawl............then get up and walk.:D
