Or what do you consider a mod?

Just curious. When I hear someone call a ProVari or Reo a mod it just seems off to me. They're manufactured, albeit in small quantities, and they're all the same. Calling a Twist a mod really makes me go "Huh?" APV maybe, but not a mod.

To me a mod is a one of a kind hand crafted thingie, or a manufactured device modified in some way by the user, something like the dudes on the modding forum (that speak a language foreign to probably most of the rest of us) are making and vaping with.

Your opinion?

If I understand the evolution correct -

Originally mod referred to altering "batteries" (even that word isn't used correctly in vapese) or people making their own. Some business minded people got the bright idea to manufacture and sell these better ideas. People kept referring to them as mods.

It is hard to get used to the new/incorrect application of old words in this world.

Like Penn and TheOcelot stated, originally meant modified, now use generically to describe just about anything vaping that is not a cigalike.

Technically you are right, a Provari, Vamo, Twist, is not a mod.

TheOcelot also pointed out, mod is short for moderator, those nice people who keep spammers at bay.

You can either accept the word being used loosely, or let it drive you crazy. I just accept it, I am already crazy enough.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I thought- Technically, I'm correct, but the word mod has become a catch-all for anything not your basic starter kit.

Mod:
3) The wonderful people who make us play nicely on the forum

LOVE this one!

I've gotten to like personal electronic nicotine inhalation system.

:laugh: That's just wrong on so many levels. :pervy:

Detract?

BTW, do you just look up pics of ocelots or do you have one? I've heard they are difficult but interesting pets.

OCELOTS DO NOT MAKE GOOD PETS!!!

I have lots of pictures of them. They are beautiful, but I want to dispel any idea they can be house pets. Often people refuse to listen that exotic animals cannot be completely tamed, so fine, keep this is mind: ocelots probably have the strongest smelling urine of any of the wildcats and have no idea what a litter box is for.

Notice I said "interesting" not "good". Most animals in this world don't belong in people's homes.

I do the same thing when I hear about people keeping a raccoon/fox/fawn/other wild critter as a pet. I just want to scream at them for being ignorant. But I really go ballistic when I hear someone say "I want to buy a baby horse so my kid can grow up with it." Now that's a speshul kind of ignorant- It's not a flippin' puppy and it's powerful enough to kill your child by accident!

I also tend to use "My mod," when the exact name of the mod I am using is relevant and posting it would distract from my point.

Yes. I wish more people would do this. Sometimes I think people are just name dropping. Then again, not every one is so good at composition or self editing. My Hubby teaches college. Does he have some horror stories. Kids using texting slang in there reports, etc.

Back on topic. I think of a mod as anything larger than an eGo. But I will accept anything with a housing that holds removible batteries.

Im so new here and was wondering the same thing.... what I thought is a pv is a vamo and the likes a mod was one of those things that just had a battery and a fire button. Like the tubes that have engraving or built out of wood and tins on their own. but now I really dont know what to think!
Forgot to add to me anythin other the a cigalike or ego is called my rig
