Conversely, and in the interest of sufficient backups to outlast the FDA, if a mod or tank satisfies you, get multiples while you can. Don't have to get ALL the new stuff
Wait until you either NEED a new product, or see something significant change.
I agree with their longevity! I have Innokin mods (various original MVP, MVP 20W, Coolfire IV, etc.) that are still going strong after several years, too. IMO, they make a quality product, whether it's tanks or mods.
I was lucky enough to find ECF before I bought any equipment and got some great recommendations to work with my wonky hands. I started out with Innokin VV v3s - and happily on my way for close to 5 years. It took some experimenting to find a clearomizer (using the language of the time) but I finally settled on Anyvape Davides, and life was good. Except for the deeming.
I started stocking up knowing I needed a major stash of VV v3s since they didn't have changeable batteries. They were being discontinued so the prices were good but availability wasn't. All that was left was the Nature series, pretty but not as well made - or long lasting. I finally had to break out of my tootle puffer comfort zone and join the modern world.
So I asked again and the Wismec RX75 came up. TC, one battery, so not
too heavy, and just squeeze to fire which works great for me. Next up, tanks with replaceable coils that would work with temp control. I tried a couple of different ones going off of different threads and peoples enthusiasms, and chose the original Uwell Crown. Since there isn't any sub ohm equivalent to the trusty Kanger Protank coils that worked in multiple devices I wanted to stick to just one for now to avoid the drawer full of different types of coils. I'm pretty much settled for now.
The point of this long winded post is that if you find what you like you can stick to that - as long as your choice is around awhile for replacements and consumables, coils for me. But there is a problem if you start in at the end of the life cycle. I've now settled on hardware that is at the end of its life cycle - so I've had to get backups (I use at least 3 different flavors all day, so I need at least three setups every day) and start stocking up on coils. Luckily I'm at a point where I can afford this, and the $ figure on my signature for 5 years not smoking justifies spending the money.
