TO THE SUB-OHMING VETERANS OUT THERE: what is the most safe battery yet has a very high discharge rate? Is it true 35A battery or is it a re-wrap, etc give it some thought.

Happy vaping :)

The only batts I know of that are really 30A max continuous are the Sony VTC series and you can't get the VTC5 anymore. IMO the best batt at 30A is now the VTC4.

There are no real 35 or higher amp continuous batteries on the market that I know of. So far, all the data I've seen on these show them to be 20A batteries advertised using their pulse ratings. Isn't marketing hype grand :)

The Samsung 25R and LG HE2 are very good 20A batteries. None of these three should vent with flame or explode if you short them. It's important to get authentic batts though so I only buy from suppliers I know and trust not to sell counterfeits.

So I guess the Sony VTC4 batteries have the highest true 30A discharge rate. So if i have a 0.20 dual macro, im guessing i gave a good buffer or should i go about 0.25? Would it be safe if i still vaped at 0.20-0.30 with Sony VTC4s?

THANKS!! :)

IMO it depends on how comfortable you are that when you measure your build resistance your measurement is accurate enough to be safe. I have a Klein Tools MM1000 DMM I bought from HD for about $100. It doesn't do really low resistance, but the voltage reading is pretty good. I use it with a Half Ohm milliohm adapter from Tech-thing Electronics Design for accurate low ohm measurements.

I also have a black box ohm checker which I calibrate with the milliohm adapter on the DMM. Making accurate contact with an atty is much easier with the box and that's important for accuracy as well, but the adapter and meter combination is the most accurate tester setup I have. With this gear I'm pretty comfortable going down to 0.16 ohms with a VTC if I want to. If all I had was the black box checker I would probably buy an accurate 0.15 ohm resistor to calibrate the checker with. I have not been in this situation so I really don't know how comfortable I could get with it, but I think I could make that work pretty well. If all I had was a 1/10 ohm DMM I would stay at or above 0.3 ohms.

I know I didn't answer your question directly, but I hope that helps a bit.

don't trust sony as far as their claim of 30AMPS can be thrown. remember all the dell, acer, apple batteries that started fires, well guess who made those.
even sony has pulled all the charts stating 30AMPS continuous discharge. and a company with a 9% share in the battery market should tell you something about their batteries.
the most widely used high drain battery on the market is a samsumg inr18650 25r, highly used in most power tool batteries.
thinking of going home depot and see what hiding in a brand new big lithium pack from ryobi

been doing a .... ton of reading on batteries as of late, checking stuff around.......wow lots learned in the last 2 months.

Those particular sony batteries you refer to were ICR batteries.
Vtc3's,4's, and if you can get them, 5's. Sometimes you can run across an undiscovered pocket of authentics somewhere. I've got 7. If you're going to stay above .25ohm the Samsung 25r's and LG HE4's are perfect. A good charger like an Xtar or Pila is a good idea.

1.0 ohm = 4.2 amp draw
0.9 ohm = 4.6 amp draw
0.8 ohm = 5.2 amp draw
0.7 ohms = 6 amp draw
0.6 ohms = 7 amp draw
0.5 ohms = 8.4 amp draw
0.4 ohms = 10.5 amp draw
0.3 ohms = 14.0 amp draw
0.2 ohms = 21.0 amp draw
0.1 ohms = 42.0 amp draw
0.0 ohms = dead short = battery goes into thermal runaway
