This may ruffle a few feather.

I find most all the comments about Mech mods a little strange. It like talking to a bunch of Leica camera owners (which I was one of until recently). It's the DESIGNER style of vaping. Like the Leica cameras and lenses. Are the pictures/image you get from them that much better compared to any other camera lens system "For the extra money spent on the Leica system"?
Is the amount of vapor and the taste of the liquid that much better from a Mech than it is from a VV/VW device for the extra money and time spent on it?

I still don't see the point other than to say you can and have done it and fit into that category of My Mech is better than your Mech.

As has been pointed out YMMV.

I rock clones.
My mechs are a fraction of the price of a comparable VV/VW device.

It's more about simplicity, less parts to break, and more real control over the vape.
Mechanicals appeal to the "tinkerer/ builder" in me.

I can rebuild or repair a mech indefinitely.
I can build it to meet or surpass anything a VV/VW device can do.
My mechs can last me forever, with zero factory support.

It's apples to oranges.

You asked the question and people gave their opinions. I have no idea why you think it's about 'My Mech is better than your Mech'. I don't compare my mechs to anyone elses and no-one else I know who rocks mechs does that either.

If you don't like mechanical mods, don't use them. That's OK. Really.

I've also been an avid photographer for decades. If you don't understand the advantages of the Leica camera system, you did well to sell your Leica equipment. Hopefully the person you sold it to 'gets it' :)

I don't think you can state this a fact.
Vaping by nature is subjective. I believe I could build a atty setup put it on my Nemey and another setup on my ZNA or eVic and get to the same result. In fact over the years I've come to realise the atty and the build has more to do with TH, heat, vapour and taste than the device supplying current to the coil.

Like I say I use both mechs and regulated devices, so I don't understand this kind of dogma that says one in inherently better than the other.

You misunderstand.
No where did I say "better".
Better is subjective.
You dna30 is limited to 30 watts.
With a fully charged battery and a .35 ohm coil
I'm vaping far beyond 30 watts.

With a quad coil igo on my 26650 hades built at .12 I'm well beyond twice the limits of you DNA 30.

Unregulated devices are not limited like regulated devices.

That was my point, not a subjective assessment of a vape.

I recently got my first mods; I like them very much and have been using them pretty much exclusively (with a Brass Monkey RDA and a Kraken) since I got them, but there's no way I'd give up my Provaris with By Leo toppers. I build the toppers on the mechs to .4-.6, and the toppers on the Provaris at 1.2, but they each have their place. Sometimes I want the burning hot intense flavor of the sub-ohm mechs. Sometimes I want the deep smooth lung hits of what I have on my Provaris, with a consistent hit from the time I put the battery in til it's time to change it. I don't get why it has to be either/or.

At that level you are correct, but the OP asked "why mechs"
I sometimes like to vape on an exotic quad coil build, on several exotic RDAs.
This is not an option with a regulated device.
A Provari wouldn't fire the atomizer.
Neither would a DNA device.
The new 168watt Vari-ant wont fire it.

See my point?
Mechs allow me to surpass the limits of ANY regulated device, and get the vape I want, not restricting me (and my builds, atomizers) within the margins of a circuit board.

I look at them like a zippo or kerosene lamp or a rolex(rolex is automatic wind vs a manual, but it's mechanical and an art). Technology may quickly move forward, but these will work great as long as we live. They can be heirlooms if this really is a revolution with benefits. They will be what we compare later things to. Records vs mp3s. Mechanicals are as simple as they come.

I was looking for a ZAP for my Provari and lucked into an iHybrid Envy for below retail on the classifieds... I fell down the rabbit hole lol
I can't remember the last time I smoked an analog though!
I always liked having a zippo more than a bic. I lost less and cared more.
And the clicking sound.
