It's definitely interesting. I like to review video and watch their facial expressions change at the front of the store...smiling when they are walking out thinking they got away with it and crying on their way back in! Does make you lose faith in humanity though when you realize how prevalent theft is and the types of things people do with their children while they are stealing.

A well people will do bad things you see the bad all the time because of your job there are lots of good honest hard working people also. Unfortunately jobs like yours are needed but I do not envy what you have to do and the bottom feeders you have to interact with. sometimes.

Spent about a year at Tillack & Co. in Redondo Beach. They specialized in Ferrari's but the one car I really wanted to drive was a 356 Spyder GS/GT, never was a big Porsche fan but that thing just touched a nerve...

Never restored a Spyder, but GS motors are lot's of fun, especially when they arrive looking like this!

I didn't do a full restoration on the Breadvan either, just had to remove some hay bails from the nose

Yipes...Looks kinda like the RX-2 in my garage. I liked them better when they were ready for the grass. The Abarth bodied 356 was cool too.

I'm a martial arts instructor with a studio in Seattle. Some people ask me what my "real job" was before I opened a commercial school, and I have to roll my eyes and say "This IS my real job...and I'm my own boss, have contracted gigs throughout the city as well as regular classes at the studio, and wake up everybday looking forward to going to work, no complaints about coworkers or bosses." ;)

I am a Commissioning Authority. What the heck is that, you say?

We represent owners (usually) and help them write an Owner Project Requirement for a building or other project. This helps the designer understand the owner's priorities before they set out to design the project. Once the design team is selected and creates the Contract Documents, we review the design prior to submission to the bid market (usually) so we can help avoid errors and omissions and other things that could make the end product less useful than it should be, or more expensive than it needs to be.

When the project is awarded, we do inspections and testing to make sure the owner gets what the designer has drawn, and the systems are optimized for efficiency and occupant comfort/utility.

Our specialty is HVAC and electrical, but we also do some security, plumbing and alarms.

Yep. If we get hired at the front end like I described, and the project doesn't go well....

    We have nowhere to hide.

We have been fortunate to do well on the ones we do "all the way". Once an owner has a project go well with us, they bring us work, which is nice. My first couple of years were tough, now finding a way to manage the work is a much bigger challenge than getting it.

Of course, that can change at any moment if you get lazy!
