If your starter kit does not have to look like a cigarette to you, I recommend 2 eGo Twist or 2 eGo Spinner variable voltage batteries (which together will last you over an entire day between charges), an Ego charger, a USB wall adaptor, and 3 large capacity clearomizers or 2 Mini Vivi Nova tanks.

I recommend two batteries at the minimum. You will need a second battery to vape with when the first is being recharged. In addition, it's extremely prudent to have backup batteries. Batteries do fail, and you don't want any reason to believe that you need to buy another pack of cigarettes once you have quit. I know, I've been there.

Next you will need to order some e-liquid. I have recommended two juice vendors below.

You need not place your order with the below vendors, they are only recommended by myself as an example of an ideal and inexpensive starter kit. The listed vendors use genuine Joye eGo, Kanger, and Vision products, not knock-off brands whose quality may be subpar.

The following components from Altsmoke and Discount Vapors and can be obtained for under $100 before tax and shipping charges (Juice not included):

If I can share what information and experiences that I have with new people wanting to quit, then I've done my part. Thank you for your recogition, It is sincerely appreciated.

This is the kit i recommend to everyone that asks & i personally use most of the items listed . The one other "option" would be to add a vv passthrough

Altsmoke has fair competitive prices, and they sell genuine brand products, no knockoffs. You may find a cheaper "kit" elsewhere, but you never know what components might be knockoffs to bring the price down lower.

Charge the batteries once they arrive. They should come with a partial charge already, so it shouldn't take long. The batteries likely have a 5 or 6 click on/off feature. I don't see a USB/wall adaptor in your list. This could be useful if you ever need to charge a battery with the charger and there is no computer available.

The juice delivery devices should be easy to learn to fill, just unscrew the tops off and fill with juice to the fill line, taking care not to get juice into the center air tube. You can pull up a search on YouTube on how to use these devices by name.

I've just started, and have some starter 510/808 pencil type batteries. I see the logic in VV and other mods, but I'm trying to figure out what e-liquids I'll like best. Already this means 15 or so different samplers, and a mess of cartos. Even the one atomizer I have doesn't clear out real easy from one juice to the next.

Any suggestions for getting through this trial phase, before I'm ready to commit to tanks or clearomizers full of an ADV?

I can easily see myself with 100 different samples real quick; given the thousands that are out there. It doesn't help that I have no predefined favorite type of flavor. I've got e-liquid ADD, and go from one to the next after just a few puffs.

Digging just about everything from Halo so far though.

You can try using ce3's or ce2's. These are for the most part cartomizer-size/shaped clearomizers that use string wicks. The are inexpensive ($9-12 for a 5 pack) and are re-usable in that you can remove a flavor, rinse out the device, and refill with another flavor. I often don't even rinse them out between flavors, just removing and refill. These use mico-needles and a syringe to fill.

I'm surprised there isn't more love for the Volt from SI. I understand not wanting a cig look-alike but they have larger batteries...I bought the Volt starter kit for $20 and their CE3 clearomizers and they're excellent. Buying the starter kit, the five pack of clearomizers, and a 30 ml e-juice cost me something like $40 after discount, which you can find coupons online for. Volt has been excellent to me thus far.

The main problem that I see with Smokeless Image products is that they are 808-threaded. SI's focus is on the beginner and mid-level vapor. That is fine and dandy if you start out with the cigalikes and advance to their e-Go sized X2 batteries and that satisfies you.

If however, you decide to advance to a mod that uses replaceable, rechargeable batteries, they all use the 510-thread format. So all the juice delivery devices that you already own can not be used on the new mods unless you use a 510-808 adaptor. Not only are you buying the new mod, but you need to buy 510-threaded delivery devices. This may not be a major point to some people, but it is a consideration.

You could always keep the Volt gear as your backup setup. But then you are maintaining two setups that use different threads. Possibly a minor point to many.

The eGo brand batteries, if used from the start, offer a more smooth transition onto mods as they use the native 510 threading.

I'd go for Vamo battery kit + ViVi Nova tank kit.
To minimize silica/glass shards, rewick when needed with Lilys Peaches & Cream cotton yarn (boiled) & doubled over + a new coil from 4 wraps around a fine thread 1/8th 'machine' screw using Kanthal A1 32awg to around 2.2 to 2.6 ohms wet. Flame the new coil turns off the screw before assembly then pinch it so the coils are closer together... then thread the cotton wick through the hole....then assemble. Cut V slots in the silicone wick holder cap just above the wick slots... lets the juice wick along better.
Mixing juices is a hassle. Probably best to buy em online unless you like 'lab' work. 70/30 and 60/40 work OK and keep your nic strength low if you can. Too much nic is like too much coffee....for me anyhow.
Enjoy.
