Not really a "newb" mistake but a big bonehead move, I took my new genesis atty to work(also my first one) and the coil was wrong and popped with 6 hours of work left. No wire, no back up.

One spring from a ballpoint pen, 2" of pullcord from the hood of my jacket, and I'd be McGyvervapin

Done that lol Wasn't happy, have a repair kit at work in a drawer now in case.

Also took an Ego 1000 mAh to work and I ended up having a 16 hour day.....ran out after hour 8. Never take less than 18490 mods with me now or 18650's.

I like this! There should be a TV show where in each episode our hero finds himself in impossible, desperate situations, but ingeniously concocts solutions so that by the end everyone can enjoy smooth, consistent high-voltage vape.

My first mistake was not finding this forum until after I bought a bunch of cig a like batteries. I thought I needed a cigarette looking thing to help me quit. They are ok for emergencies but not for regular use. I was smart enough to buy a USB pass thru for the computer, work, and next to my TV chair. No worries there on batteries dying. I now have 4 larger batteries that will last me all day when I'm not using my pass thrus.

I also burned up a lot of cartridges because I never knew when it was going to go out. I'm way far from perfect, but at least I set the majority of my cartridges to the side for refill prior to burning them up.

There is a lot to learn about vaping. Buy sample bottles of new juice or sampler kits of cartos. Most of it is hit and miss and your personal preference. What one person likes for a taste might taste like a fish left out in the burning sun all day to you. Learn before you buy and have fun!

I spent too much money on underpowered underbuilt devices.

I wish I'd started with my extended provari. It would have saved me a lot of money.
this started with the blu, then to a ego, then a lavatube, wish i would have researched more and just went with the lavatube from the start.

Very similar story here, except I went from Njoy to V2.. then to the Inferno from Volcano.. When it came time that I decided I wanted to go with a VV device, I was honestly fully intending on purchasing a lavatube because of the price difference, but when it came time to buy mine, they were out of every color but PINK... not my thing... I knew there were several others but had always been told the ProVari was amazing, so I splurged on myself for christmas and went with it. Very happy with the purchase.. Since I never bought the lavatube, I don't have anything for a personal comparison, though most of the reviews I read had said the device has come a LONG way and really improved with the new version of it. But, a review is a review.. like everyone else says, its really trial and error for what you want and enjoy.. I personally wouldn't wish the Njoy's I used to stop traditional cigarettes on ANYONE ... was very difficult.. but at the same time, my boss has been using them for years and loves them. Though he was jealous of my Inferno, so I'm waiting to see his face when he walks in and sees my Provari on my desk.. LOL!

Well I just did a very messy one tonight. Decided to try my new Kanger T3. Filled it up and vaped for a few minutes and thought it was working pretty good. However - I just threw out a Stardust that has leaked from the first time I tried it. So fearing the dreaded leak I figured I should take the T3 off the battery and check if it was leaking. :danger:

Well because it is a bottom fill - I actually ended up unscrewing the base from the tank and dumped all the juice onto my keyboard :-x

Fortunately I had another keyboard - but I guess it is a lesson learned - both on what not to do with the T3 and not to remove a clearomizer over my keyboard

The only mistake I made was to help my partner give up smoking by persuading her to try vaping. I'd given up smoking 10 years earlier, cold turkey, but knew she would need a lot of help. Now I am a heavy vaper - and loving it - but she is still a smoker. The good news is that I have absolutely no interest in ever reverting to smoking analogs. Also, my doctor is happy because I lost 5 kg weight in 3 months due to a greatly reduced craving for lollies! Not such a bad mistake in my opinion.

Even us veterans are prone to noob mistakes, for example....

I've been vapeing my E-Power since it hit the market, and I've been pretty happy with it!

Well, I decided to try one of the new variable voltage mods on the market called the VAMO,

Figured I'd save money by buying batteries for it from a well known online auction site to save a few pennies.

Come to find out, Protected lithium Ion batteries aren't compatible with it!
It needs to use specific batteries, ie, flat top LiMn's... (Reordered some of those today)

Not only that, but the day after I ordered my "Gunmetal VAMO",
I found a stainless steel one I liked better called the EGO Bamboo! (Should be here today)...

Now I have a bunch of batteries I can't use (but, I've got my eye on the 18650 E-Power)

Live n' learn I guess :)

Six months from now, we'll be in awe of your foresight to purchase a backup Vamo before the prices on them go through the roof.:D
...the batteries...we just won't bring up the batteries.

My 1st really big mistake was marrying my 1st wife, and not divorcing her immediately.. OHH!! you mean in Vaping! ;)

Can there really be any mistakes if it works for you? Everyone has their own learning curve. If it gets you off tobacco, it's a Win Win for you.

But yes, 1 mistake I made was initially buying only a 250ml bottle of Cherry Cigar e-juice. Thought I would enjoy it greatly. And I did! for a week.. After about 40ml's I couldn't stand it and now this big bottle of juice is sitting on a shelf and I have no plans to touch it again.. LOL
