I've been vaping almost 2 years now, and I've let quite a bit of e-liquid go to waste, simply because I literally don't know anyone I can give it to (no one in my family or small circle of friends vapes, except for one aunt who used crappy cigalikes for a while). To be honest, I've only found two e-liquid flavors that I absolutely love: Hangsen coffee, and peanut butter cup. So yeah...a lot of e-liquid has gone to waste with me experimenting with different flavors, which I no longer do.

Other than that, I've had to throw away:

Two defective eGo Twist batteries I bought from a Chinese vendor.

An entire box of ce4s I bought from a Chinese vendor (terrible, terrible wicking and taste).

A practically brand new eGo V v-2 I bought from a stateside vendor (it died after only 6 or 7 charging cycles).

I still don't own any mods or anything like that, so I haven't had to throw away anything super expensive, thank goodness. These days I pretty much stick with Vision Spinners, iClear16s, and the Kanger T3s, which are all good quality items, so I practically never have to throw anything away anymore.

Facing the fact that just about everything vape related with the exception of juice comes from China
There's plenty of gear available that isn't made in China. The sad part is that most consumers don't seem to be willing to pay for it, despite the fact that quality, original gear costs relatively little when you look at in in the context of what they used to spend on smokes.

There are not US made cartos, clearos, batteries at all. And I haven't heard of a US-made RBA, either.

The price is relatively cheap when you compare how much you save compared to how much I waste on defective china gear.
Using American made VV MOD , a few kayfuns (authentic). Russian an nautilus are the only products I use made in china at this point. Juice made in the USA. I never tried juice from china. Never trusted the ingredients.
What American made toppers do you know off that aren't cartoon or drippers. Always looking for new gear.

Did I say "US Made"? I did not. I said, "isn't made in China". There are other countries in this world besides just the US and China you know. ;)

Yes I did misread that. However, cartos, clearos, and batteries are only made in China that I know of. My point was you can never completely get away from that fact.

Hmm, I'm currently using three different brands of batteries; Sony, Panasonic, and LG. Sony and Panasonic are Japanese companies, while LG is Korean. Sadly, none of the batteries are marked with a country of origin, so it's not clear exactly where they are made, but none of them have been duds. :D

PS/Edit: If Elon Musk gets his way, there will be be a very large factory making Li-ion rechargeable batteries in the US in a few years:

Mangavape Pro Killer is the only US made clearo that comes to mind. AW batteries are made in Japan then rebranded in China. All I can think of at the moment.

Also the Chinese produce some amazing quality stuff but they will also produce junk if that is what the dealer wants. If someone asked them to build a clearo and keep the cost to below $0.50 per unit they will be happy to do that. The poor quality is driven by the greed of dealers who push for the lowest production cost and largest profit margin. It is up to us as the consumer to only buy top quality products regardless of where they are made and send a message to the greedy dealers peddling overpriced junk.

Facing the fact that just about everything vape related with the exception of juice comes from China, quality control, elegant and efficient design, and attention to detail are going to be severely lacking.

This industry needs the equivalent of a Steve Jobs to step in and take the Provari business model to the next level.
Kind of ironic considering that iStuff is manufactured in China, and hasn't been exactly problem-free either. :p

All my 'Made in China' gear has been performing great so far, with the exception of the really cheap crap (CE4 clearo's and batteries). But mind you, I've been vaping for less than a year and haven't bought that much stuff yet.

Well, let me give that some though.... None. I started with a Provari, then a second Provari, then a Zen sidewinder(which I recently traded for a VV Reo Grand). I have 7 genesis atomizers and 4 KFL style atties, I do have a Fogger V2 that Is mostly just a paperweight. I DIY my own juice though and have bought some flavorings that I just can't use.

I guess not being a vapor shopaholic has it's perks.

Things that were doa

1 Evod battery replaced by vendor
1 Evod charger replaced by vendor
(unsure which was bad and fried the other but was on initial charge so vendor stood behind it)

about a half dozen kanger pt/evod heads I'm only counting the ones that never fired
(before I learned to rebuild as soon as I popped them from the blister)
