I'm not throwing anything out. If I do think I'm through with something I give it away or put it on the shelf. We all paid good money for our stuff, whether or not we continue to use it or not is up to the individual. I learned a good lesson early on, I had a Bunch of clearomizers I hated but instead of throwing them all away I gave them all to another soldier in my unit who liked them.

It's it fair to ask how much money you've spent on stuff that breaks or fails early or right away?
The reason I ask is that I often get crap for recommendations to new vapers to skip the clearos, evod evod etc. And just spend the money on something like a vamo / carto tank or kf setup, if they are committed to vape.
This thread is particularly interesting to me BC of the ongoing "is a provari worth it" conversation.
Imo I'd rather spend the money on something that Isn't going to leave me stranded w/o nic, frustrated, and eventually having to figure out what to replace it with, more money, learning how to use something new.
First thing I ever bought was a vamo and a carto tank, I quit 2plus packs a day cold turkey and I didn't even really care about quitting smoking. I got both of my parents off with the same setup I don't think it around have worked, quitting smoking, without a solid, reliable device.

I ceased smoking cigarettes and began vaping one year ago today. The OPs question is intriguing to me on my vaping anniversary, because I'm very surprised how little I've tossed over that time -- new to it, I assumed I'd make a lot of ill-advised purchases.

Just about everything I've bought for vaping works as advertised/expected. Generally I check the YouTube reviews for any hardware I'm thinking of buying. If the reviews don't answer a question I have about a product, I look here on ECF. Both sources have served me well for my Silly Newb Mistake Prevention. I have boundless appreciation to the people out there doing reviews and answering questions.

I've had one palm-sized 350 mah ego style battery, and a couple of 510 stick batteries die on me sooner than expected. One bad Kanger Protank head. Three or four bad cartomizers. I have an old one-rivet Innokin VV/VW which still works, but the trigger on it feels on the verge of failure (my later version 6-rivet is still working great, with no signs of aging despite greater use). My MVPs and Ego-Twists work like they did out of the box. Extra-long USB to MicroUSB cables seem to have a short life span.

From about $1200 in hardware purchases, maybe $50 worth I've trashed, and given-away another $150 worth.

The only wildcard I've had for toss-outs are purchased juices which -- after trying -- I think so foul tasting I wouldn't even give them away. I've probably bought 2400 ml of e-juice total in the last year (most of it Mt Baker); tossed perhaps 60 ml; given away another 100 ml

My big takeaway from my first year of vaping is that the information a person needs to shop wisely is out there to be read or watched/listened to, and that generally, product quality from reliable manufactures and sellers is remarkably high.

I totally agree, if you put in the time you can educate yourself on just about everything before you buy it. I spent a couple hours at last over the last few days before buying about ten different juices from a few different vendors, I usually don't buy anything in going to have to steep, or steep over a few days, and I don't pay over $0.50 /ml I've gotten one juice I don't really like in the last 300ml I purchased. But it takes time....

When I first vaped, the commercial equipment was crappy, and you had to build yourself to get much of anything reliable.

Now there is a huge amount of equipment out there, almost all better than what was around just 5 1/2 years ago. However....

We may be quickly coming to a time where, thanks to our governments, the equipment could become a narrow selection of crap again.

I built before, and altho I don't want to due to time, I can again if needed...I throw away NOTHING. Dead ego/evod battery? It has threaded connector on top which could be modded on to something else. I've taught myself to re-coil evod/PT coils. Broken tank? I save the parts from it.

I am happy my recent budget has allowed me to stock up on supplies to vape comfortably for a long time, and maybe I'm paranoid (but I have company!). But I haven't always had as much income, and maybe I will regret throwing stuff away in the future; if I don't need supplies then maybe I can help others with them.

One little tackle box full of odds and ends doesn't take much space, and could be worth a healthier life for myself, or some one else.

I haven't really thrown anything out. I actually have saved most everything for a in case of emergency. Some things I still like but moved foward a bit with my gear. I have moved through a G1 pen, a kamery x6, a ego c twist, vision spinner, vision spinner 2, mvp2, nemesis mechanical, dna 20, but I keep them incase. Plus they are still good and I will likely give a couple to my smoking friends in hopes it can help them quit. Also you never know when your going to get a equipment failure and need a back up. I can't see throwing them away. Plus my husband vapes too so incase he needs a back up too its there. I'm not a wealthy per on so I can't just see throwing something perfectly good away. I guess I always think, what if I need that some day, or a friend needs that. So as for throwing things away I've not done that unless it's a old burned out coil.

Whenever I've saved stuff for a rainy day (i.e. used clearos that could use a good cleaning), I've found that a whole year goes by and I don't use them. If I have choice between cleaning something out (that may take time, as in days) or ordering new stuff that is drastically discounted from current sale and that will take a few days to get to me, I go with the new stuff around 95% of the time.

Only thing I throw out is empty liquid bottles. And bottom coils that have run thier course. I clean my coils every other day. So I get an average of 2-3 weeks per coil. They cost like $1.75 or something so when I make a juice order I order 5 coils. Right now I think I have 40+ new bottom coils. In fact I have so many on my last purchase of liquid I did not get any coils.

Attention hoarders, feel free to send me any Kanger products that you did not like. I have loved all of mine and I can give them a good home. Look at it like a therapy session. :D

I'm only 3 months into it, so I have not had to throw anything out in my small collection. I really appreciate the pay it forward forum, I was able to trade juice I didn't like for juice I love.

Nothing, except a couple of those topper clearomizers toppers that came with the first eGo set that my guy had. We've given a bit away to friends and family (I've got a first cousin's that's been the Black Sheep of smoking and inability to quit and he's about to get his care package this weekend)

I've got a Vivi Nova 5 ml Tank that's up for anyone I couldn't drill out the air holes and almost 50ml of Vista Vapers Blueberry Icecream 24mg, that's just too much for me, so waiting for "that" person that can use 'em.

At breakfast yesterday the manager gave us a bottle of his Curious Jorge (it's steeping that stuff is super perfumey no wonder he went back to smoking)

so there's always someone that we're all swapping stuff with...or just offloading for a good cause.

but much like when I buy a car, in our family/friends we never do a "trade in" with the old one there's always someone in the rouges gallery line up that needs one *lol*
