another method could be to ship back to vendor and have them dispose of them or ship them to the manufacturer for disposal.

wouldnt it be nice if vendors had some sort of recycling program where you get a couple dollars store credit for sending back dead batterys? they send to manufacturer and manufacturer refurbishes them or recycles them.

I've been told you can drop them off at Radio Shack, which has a bin for disposing of batteries, if you have a Radio Shack near you. I actually have several I've been meaning to take over there and drop off and haven't yet.

Their disposal bin aka gateway to the dumpster in the alley lol.

You can allways chuck em at hipsters!

Radio Shack, Some Office supply and after market battery stores will take them and hopefully not put them in the trash. I say this because places including Cities have been caught dumping stuff they are suppose to recycle into a landfill. Not a lot I hope but we have a responsibility to dispose of all batteries responsibly. Not just for the environment but because at our current rate we will either be killing over stuff in landfills or mining them because of the way we are going. I am far from an activist but I have come to realize we have been Crapping in our Mess kit for far to long. I do not hug trees either. I just hate waste and over consuming. The second set of the 3 R's are Reuse, Recycle, Repair.

For every battery you take to radio shack this lady will hug a tree.

Back in a previous life I was a tree. There were no tree huggers back then. It was a lonely existance.

In order to contribute to the OP, I have thrown old batts, but now I know better and will recycle them.

Target has battery recycling bins as well. If they don't, you can give them to the guest service team member and tell them to put it in their special handling bin.

Good advice! I wonder if Walmart offers the same service as they're more common. Can't throw a cat without hitting a Walmart. I don't know why people throw cats tho.

Minimum wage guest team member: "uhhh sure" as he tosses it in the trash behind the counter lol.
