1. The claim that vaping is safer cannot be substantiated without long-term studies to support it. Hence, in the face of uncertainty, we must doubt this claim.

2. The claim that vaping leads teenagers to smoking cannot be substantiated without long-term studies to support it. Hence, in the face of uncertainty, we must totally believe this claim.

the main ingredients found in the e-cigarette liquids are glycerin and glycol ethers, which are used as the liquid carrier into which all of the nicotine, flavorings and preservatives easily dissolve, Thornburg said. Those substances are not considered harmful.

E-cigarette liquids DO NOT contain Glycol Ethers

One of the ones that gets me the most, I just read this again in a NBC News article the other day, flavors are to draw in children. Smokers don't care about flavors.

The flavor is WHY I switched! Well, not why maybe, but definitely how.

I have to admit that I've learned a lot since starting to vape. I never thought smoking was better for me or my those exposed to me, or that e-juice was anti-freeze, or that I'd drown... (Really?LOL!)

But I did wonder what was in e-juice, and if anyone knew how it affected our lungs. I didn't just jump right on the bandwagon. When I did decide to take the plunge, I figured out how to use one, then set out to make my own juice - at least I have some control over what's in it.

As I started reading up, I was a bit alarmed by the chemicals found in some of the flavors. Although it would give me some peace of mind if all this stuff were tested and approved (or not, and so not sold), I don't have all that much respect for the FDA. They have approved SO many things that turn out to be worse than ever expected.

So, while I'll be cautious with what I make and use, I won't be paranoid. Vaping will almost certainly prove to have some risks, but probably won't be half as deadly as aspirin.

My wife came at me with this one. "Those things are worse than actual cigarettes, you literally puff on that thing all day long, it's not any better than me smoking, it's actually worse. And how can you say you aren't a smoker? You are still getting nicotine, therefore you are still a smoker". I just shook my head and told her to go to CASAA.org and read up, then try again

A nurse in my doctor's office read the the riot act when I told her that I switched from smoking to vaping. She rattled off a list of things that included cancer, seizures, mouth sores, dizziness, gingivitis, broken fingers, .... hematomas, increased auto insurance premiums, and premature ejaculation. Well, ok...the last four were a slight exaggeration, but I can't remember all the crap she said. My doc came in as the nurse was finishing up her list, and he shook his head, told her to keep her agenda out of the office, and congratulated me on a healthier choice of nicotine delivery. He said that he's pretty sure that it's better than any of the Nicowhatever FDA approved meds are out there, to include the nicotine inhaler.

He's even gone to my local vape lounge and is trying to educate himself on the delivery systems as well as the e-juices, because he's seeing more and more of his smoking patients switch to vaping, and is truly interested in this.

I love docs like this. Those that wish to use the gifts they were given to formulate a rational and educated decision. Those that use their own brain for thinking instead of someone else's.

You could point out that people who wear a nicotine patch are still getting nicotine and wear it all day long. Ask if she thinks THEY are still smokers?

Youse all took the words right out of my mouth.

What about second-hand "smoke" from e-cigs?
