I think alot started on some type of cig a like, myself included, but my first real set up after those cig a likes was the omega mechanical mod by altsmoke with a cartomizer. This got me to surf the net looking for juices , which was really cool, no more pre done cartridges with your basic tobacco and menthol, now I could shop for whatever I wanted...this vape surfing opened my eyes to so many things, including ecf.....once I joined ecf, by by carts and went into rebuilding gennys

My first starter kit on a whim. I ordered a Volt (cig-sized) from SmokelessImage. YThey were highly thought of in these parts in those days. I thought an automatic was the only way to go but I made a "mistake" and ordered one manual. Best mistake I ever made because that sleek silver "manual" Volt with a black cartomizer is now mounted and label with my quit date -- August 10, 2012.

Like many I had planned to try and quit smoking using cigalikes. Fortunately chatted with a few people I knew who had quit via vaping on a different unrelated forum. Started 41 days ago with a Smok Stick V8. Solid sub-ohm unit though might have been "easier" starting MTL! But didn't take long for lungs to handle DTL and haven't had a stinkie since just before walking into the local Vape shop on my mission to quit. After a week with the Stick V8 ordered a Smok GX2/4 to have better power control....

Ooohhhweeeeeee, taking a step into my way back machine and going to sort this out. First mod... it was an ego-c, came as part of a dual kit that came with two tanks and two batteries for $60 roughly. Now I'm working at the shop I bought that from and selling my last evod 1200mah battery for 9 bucks. Wow times have changed.

My first awareness of the possibility was 40-50 years ago when I saw the design for an electronic cigarette in some magazine ... probably Popular Science since I had a subscription back then.

For Christmas 2009, a co-worker was gifted an N'Joy kit and showed it off at work. This prompted me to give it a go. But, in haste not typical of me, I bought a cig-a-like from some company called Knight Stick, which was a total waste of money in all but one aspect. It served to convince me I COULD quit smoking and I immediately started seeking a better alternative. And even though it took a while to find that 'ideal' solution, I dropped the cigarettes immediately.

In 2010 & 2011 I spent an ungodly sum (literally thousands) on various vaping devices, most of which were lacking. And, found ECF and its wealth of information and helpful souls to give me direction. I've gotta tell you though, as with other forums I've been a participant in, this actually increased my spenditures for those several years. Just too many (seemingly) good ideas bantered about, LOL.

For several years now I haven't felt the need to experiment further. Currently using what many of y'all consider old school tech ... ProVari 2.5 with Aspire Nautilus, mix my own eLiquid. It works for me.

Back in March 2013 My wife came home with 2 ego/clearo kits that were 150.00US each from a B&M. They happen to be authentic SMOK ego's and CE4 clearos that had replaceable heads so they did pretty well for the short time we used them, I also learned to rebuild them clearos. Provari was next and it was 250.00US so my wife got it and I bought a 19.99 k100 mech, kicks, batts and charger. My Provari came several months later for the same 250US. After that its was researching and coops to find/get the best deals for genuine gear. Last big purchase was a P3 just before provape folded for 99.00US.

I was going through e-mails earlier today and it made me laugh. I found an invoice for my first ever device. It blows my mind to think for the price I paid I got tiny little batteries with a piece of plastic and some rope for a tank.

I remember later meeting the vendor at the foodcourt of a mall in Ottawa. At the time it felt like a drug deal; I was half expecting the mall security guards to crash our party and throw me in cuffs.

I managed to find my first 'mods' hiding under some cotton in my vape kit. Just gave them a hit on the old Nautilus mini and after all these years they still work!

What did you guys start on?

Here's my invoice & first 'mods':

my first proper setup was a kanger protank 3 mini on a mvp 2 which still works to this day though I don't use it anymore

Heh - I chuckle

My "first" device was a Volcano Magma cig-alike kit. Two weenie 180mah batteries (automatic) and a veritable plethora of flavor cartridges. I so had no clue back in 2010. Paid over $75 for the kit and probably $30-40 worth of the flavor carts and a handful of atties. BLUE FOAM BABY!

Fast forward to 2014, and I "upgraded" to the Volcano Inferno (hadn't discovered ECF or B&Ms yet) that was also about $75, plus another tank. Now, the Inferno is a single-battery kit for about $30

Thanks to ECF, I've "matured" with my vape selections and am pretty self-sufficient with building coils and mixing my own juice. Won't pay over $15 for a topper or $45 for a mod ever again

Someone gave me a cigalike back in 2010. It was awful. After a couple days fussing with it I gave it back. Managed half a day with that thing.

Ego ce4 combo. Then a spinner with a naut mini. Then a mech\rda and finally a sigelei 100 watt with an rda. That progression took less than a month and I stayed there. Different gear but same same really.

I started vaping with one of these kits...
157-2.jpg

along with a 15ml bottle of 24mg juice, paid just over $100 for both.
A few months later I was sporting an Iclear16 with a Vision spinner battery.

That good old Vision Spinner was the truth though. First thing that got me to skip a cigarette when I could have smoked. Poor thing died because I dropped it a billion times. Moved on to the Innokin VV, ended up with two of those, they were great.

Man. I took the loooong way around before getting a Sig 100W. I still have the Arctic V8 that (I think) I got to go with it. On second thought maybe it was the Atlantis I bought with that Sig 100W.

My first device was a Pall Mall (non-filter)

I started on Marlboro Reds in Boot Camp. One time however we were at sea and ran out of everything other than Kools and Pall Mall unfiltered. I went with the Pall Malls. That's probably what I coughed up when I started vaping, those Pall Malls. Felt like I was coughing up dirt I had eaten in my grandma's back yard from 1968.
